Mayor Day Pissing Away Even More Taxpayers Money

Because NO ONE would ever be so stupid to purchase these bikes, (not even Jakes Good Ol' Boy friends) and believe people will actually rent and ride these God Awful looking bikes, Jake chose to spend YOUR taxpayer money to buy and create a business no one in their right mind would ever start. You download an Ap and rent the bike for $1.00 .

Look, I know you guys must be thinking I just hate Jake Day or that I go on the attack too often but let me assure you, that is not the case. This guy is just an IDIOT who needs to get the hell out of that office and let a real qualified person take over.

Please join us for a bike ride to commemorate the arrival of SPIN bikeshare in Salisbury! We will gather at 9:15 in Red Square on the S.U. campus. The ride will depart at 9:30, traveling along the Camden, South, and Waverly bike lanes, and ending next to the parking garage in Downtown Salisbury. Once we reach our destination, we will have a formal press conference to announce the bikeshare program and answer any questions. Riders are welcome to bring their own bikes, or to try out one of the SPIN bikes. For more information, please contact the Mayor’s Office at 410-548-3100.

  1. If this notice proves one thing it's this. This incompetent boy mayor failed to say what day this will happen. Everything this weekend warrior does proves his inability to hold this office. Please someone step up and 'MAKE THIS CITY GREAT AGAIN'

  5. I remember reading, somewhere recently, where a city discountinued these bikes due to theft. He continues to spend tax payer money on stupid stuff and has yet to bring any decent jobs. Bring jobs,so people can afford to pay the taxes!! (And not min wage donuts stores)

  6. Ebt cards, welfare, affordable housing, free methadone and now government subsidized bicycles. On the bright side, crime is down in Salisbury.

  8. Jake Day never progressed from a 10 year old's mind set. All his ideas to move Salisbury forward into a prosperous city with low unemployment and poverty, high home-ownership rates, etc are childlike pipe dreams. He is extremely unsophisticated, naive and alarmingly gullible when the snake oil salesman pounce on him.

    ReplyDelete
  9. What he fails to forget, is that Salisbury is not a vacation destination. There is little to nothing here to attract a tourist to want to rent a bicycle and tour this city. It's not like Washington DC, or the beaches.

    ReplyDelete
  10. He HAD to do it because I have yet to see ANYONE use a bike lane.

  11. At SU of all places...That school is hostile towards our local kids attending there...It's cheaper to go out of state.

    1. Off topic , but true, the out-of-area students are hostile to local kids attending SU. I don't know of a cost effectiveness study was done, but I would guess Salisbury residents need to use to bikes back and forth from work to home more than sight seeing.

  12. 8:05 Just because they aren't smart as the other kids or don't have all their teeth are not reasons to be hostile towards them.

    1. SU elite students come from out of state because they are too dumb to get in any other school. Parents have money. Ever notice the cars they drive. Heard Wicomico community grade point average is 2.0. our locals are smarter than any outsider.

  16. Over/Under on how many are stolen...better yet if ANYONE other than Jake and the three people on that committee show up? Heck with meeting about the issues in our schools, crime, and funding dangit! We paid for bike lanes! He makes my head hurt...maybe they'll show up in those onesies from the barhop

    ReplyDelete
  17. I disagree.....the bikes will be used for getaways from armed robberies of people attending the folk festival

  18. As one of the largest communities in Salisbury, SU brings in many visitors and guests. Parents and friends of students, visiting professors, exhibitors and prospective students and their families. They all spend money in this area. Most probably do not bring bikes with them. This allows them to tour the area on bikes if they choose. Yuo people are so quick to put down things you don't understand. If you don't like the bikes, don't use them and continue to be obese rednecks with negative attitudes. You wonder why no employers open real businesses here? Look in the mirror.

  20. 8:24 jealous of Day? You are kidding right? Anyone and I repeat anyone jealous of Day is a loser themselves. Day has done nothing in Salisbury that has contributed to anyone's quality of life except for a handful of special interest who control him and drag him around by the nose. If you think a slave boy to special interest is someone to be jealous of then something is seriously wrong with you. Instead of striving for excellence you have allowed yourself to be so lowered that you settle for deficiency and inadequacy.

  21. It is exactly the kind of project dreamed up by feminine boys. Seriously. It sounds perfect for a place like San Francisco or Rehoboth

  22. 8:54 Going to tell you right here and now just like many on this blog told it like it was with Headquarters Live. Those bikes are going to sit there and turn to rust. If you think for one second all these visitors to SU are going to tour the area on a bike you are an ignoramus. Sorry not sorry to tell you this but it's time you ignoramuses are told just how pathetically ignorant and low IQ you are. Day and the rest of the ignoramuses got themselves so jazzed up over Headquarters Live and we were told this "music venue" was going to draw people to Sby and how it would benefit the community. And guess what. it didn't do crap just like most on this blog said and either will this asinine waste of money idea.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I was just at the park where the bikes are sitting waiting for the rain.

You have to download an app, put in a bunch of personal information to take a $1 bike ride. Way too much work.

There is a very very small segment of the population that will do this or that have a phone capable of doing this

My phone wont do it therefore I am excluded. Children will be excluded. Teenagers will be excluded as will older peeps. He is doing all this for the college students = not the community, and the college students won't bother with it.

8:54 - one of the Jakettes just told you that.

  35. I sometimes ride the trails at the Salisbury City park, but because of crime, I avoid this place now. Just as easy to load up my bike on the bike rack and explore other places and not have to pay a rental fee for a bike. Great idea for a vacation destination, but not for crime ridden Salisbury. Most college kids have their own bikes anyway.

  36. LMAO! WOW Something is SERIOSLY WRONG with him. In Salisbury Maryland? We should make a game out of this. Everyone can guess when the last one will be seen around town. The one who is closest to that date wins. Everyone can put in $1.

  37. 9:12 that's exactly what I was thinking. I'm a senior citizen and it would be kind of nice to take a bike ride once in a while but I don't have a smart phone and don't know how to use one so that means my tax dollars go to something I can't use.

  38. 8:00 AM is saying the same thing others have tried to get across to the voters and city officials the bikes are STUPID just like the taking down of the fence down around Riverwalk so children and others can drown in the river. Also there is the idea of no chain link fences in Salisbury, and the festival, he said it early on in his term he is thinking along the lines of the Inner Harbor. Get it people it is like putting lipstick on a pig, it doesn't change Salisbury and never will. We have nothing to offer tourists, we are not a tourist town, we are in a nasty, dirty filthy, Wicomico River, run down town of bad roads, tire shops with dirty nasty tires in stacks all along route 13. The businesses you see the majority along Rt 13 are in bad need of painting or just plain demolishing. Take a good look Jake clean up the city and forget all the pipe dreams don't know what your smoking!!!!!!

  41. How much did Salisbury pay for each bike.

When I was a college student, a company(Zagster) was in the business of renting out the Bikes. Zagster paid the city of Charlotte $15/per bike for Docking Space. To my knowledge no bike was ever stolen that was docked correctly, the renter was responsible for additional cost if the bike was incorrectly docked. Zagster was responsible for collecting the rental fee and repairs, etc. Times have changed if Salisbury is responsible for running the Bike Sharing Service, instead of a business.

Have you seen the new bike lanes on Rt. 50 in the area of East Main Street to Naylor Street in the Westbound lane? The bike lanes would put you in the middle of Rt. 50 in between the cars turning right and the cars traveling in right lanes. What idiot designed those? Thank God I've seen no one using the bike lanes because someone is going to get killed.

Have you been outside lately? It's more uncommon for someone to NOT have a smartphone. I get that you may live in the country but it's not an unreasonable platform. Many companies use a similar format and this type of program has been elsewhere in the country and around the world for years.

  59. They've had this in Northern VA where we own a home for a few years. We rarely visit the home and it is unoccupied except for a weekly visit by someone we hired to flush toilets, water house plants, collect the mail, turn heat/AC on or off and to check up on things. Everyone in the neighborhood knows the house is vacant. Anyway the person who checks on the house has found at least 10x's one of these bikes abandoned in our back yard. What it is someone uses it and doesn't want to return it and knows our house is vacant so leaves it there. I can imagine in Salisbury this is going to be even a bigger problem since this area of VA is million dollar+ homes. This and outright theft which is a big problem in VA and New York.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm saying it right here and right now so mark my words. Same thing that happened in Baltimore is going to happen. Before a year is over most of the bikes are going to be missing. It's an idiotic idea and when it fails I will take great pleasure in telling these idiots Told You So It was the same idiots who were nearly having orgasms over that other brain dead idea of a "music venue." Anyone who dared speak against was called "negative." They are so incredibly ignorant they can't tell the difference between reality and negativity. Again this is going to be a failure. And BTW remember that fee WiFi they all got themselves so jazzed up over and how it was going to get people to The Plaza? How that work out? People must be flocking to the Plaza I bet. LOL LOL

    ReplyDelete
  61. They abandon them everywhere and claim they were stolen. They say they will charge your credit card massive amounts of money but if you dispute you win. All the kids know this.

    ReplyDelete
  62. They'll all be in the river in a month.

    ReplyDelete

  63. IIRC, the bike rack at the GOB had a number of bikes parked there as props to justify the bike lane madness. This was a while back and SBY News ran some photos.

    Flash forward to today.

It is obvious that Jake's vision goes only as far as reading about, or hearing about, some new or faddish item, practice or product. The cool kids in some Democrat urban spot have this or that...Jake wants one, too.

    Roundabouts
    Amphitheater
    Bike lanes, ad infinitum
    Free bike program
    Folkie Fest
    Duplicated public services
    Trendy bar scene
    Torn up downtown
    Skatebording
    New flags, decals, etc.

Fact is that if he'd put any effort into just actually maintaining and improving existing public spaces the results would be visible, tangible and would improve things for renters, owners and visitors alike. And owners would be more likely to maintain and improve their properties.

Cut the grass, pull the weeds, paint the curbs, fix the streetlights, etc. Once accomplished and ongoing, look to see what larger public investments could be justified.

He's the Johnny Football of urban planning!

  65. The bike idea may work, but please clean up the trash, plastic bags, fast food containers, etc. along city streets. It really looks like a ghetto. And as for the new city flag, I think it's a disgrace and has no meaning.

  66. The college kids that need bikes to get around already have them. No parent riding in a fancy car to come see their kids are gonna ride those bikes around here. Other places have done this and its been a big fail! Those bikes will disappear at the expense of the tax payers. This is not a good idea. The tax payers should not have to pay for it either. If some of you think that Jake is bad on his own with the rubber stamp of Heath, just wait and see what happens if Heath gets into the County Exec job. They will be tag teaming it and turning us into little Baltimore. Its well on its way now with the crime rates etc. Salisbury used to be a nice place to live and raise a family, but not now. The crime rates and the job loss due to over regulations and tax in this county and city and state is turning this state into a banana republic. Jake needs to go. We need a good person to run up against him. Do not vote for Jack Heath he will continue to finish off this county. the two J's will dominate (the good ole boys) and it all will go to hell worse then it already is. Don't do it!
