Is Mitt the Next McCain?

As he's expressed his desire to join the U.S. Senate, Mitt Romney has privately revealed that a driving purpose of his service would be to emulate a former rival and fellow foiled Republican presidential nominee: Sen. John McCain.

"There's got to be somebody who can stand up to the president," Romney told members of the Utah congressional delegation in recent weeks, according to a person with knowledge of his comments. "Who's going to stand up to Trump?"

  1. Funny that Mitt thinks useless McCain is "standing up to the president"
Mitt's hero is a backstabber and a liar.

  2. If all he wants to do is stand up against what the people elected, we don't want him at all!

McCain was enough - we don't need another!

  3. I'll tell you what this punk loser is. He is another failure that I am ashamed to admit I voted for, same as McCain.
I hate to see a grown man crying all the time due to their jealousy. It just messes their whole being up to lose to a strong person. What will it be like in the future, from our society making everybody winners. Trophy's for all!

  8. WHY does anyone NEED to stand up to President Trump??? If they are on board with Conservative Ideals; Work With Him...McCain was just a jerk who, too often, wanted to be a lone ranger just for the heck of it. Let's MAGA...

  10. ANOTHER rejected loser politician.
The people already told him what they thought about him.
If "standing up to the president" is his reason for running, he may want to reconsider.
    Keep cheering.

  11. "Who's going to stand up to Trump?"

Sample responses from deeply imbedded Dems:

"Uhh, I've got a hair appointment that day/week/month/year/term."
"My prostate exam is that day/week/month/year/term."
"I can't today, I've just gotten six subpoenas."
    "Why can't Nancy do it?"
"I have brain cancer/Alzheimer's/Dementia and don't know if it's Thursday or August."
    "Nobody can take Hillary's place."
"I'm enjoying the ride. Why should I screw that up?"
    "You know, I would, but...."

  12. Mitt should butt out. He had his chance and muffed it badly. He contributed exactly zero, zilch, nada to opposing Obama, Hillary, Bernie and their ilk since. He should stay retired and enjoy his money and family. He's nearly as old as the retiring senator. Utah Republicans should identify a vibrant, young candidate who can represent their state over the long haul. Their congresswoman would be a great starting point!
