A Viewer Writes: Ahead of The Daily Times again

Joe,

It's common knowledge among the employees at ECI that there's a SEACRET OPERATION afoot led by the St., DOC. Said operation concerns the closing of the Min-Security annex and the re-focusing of the unit's purpose. The plan is to move the current prisoners to the Main Jail and load the annex with opioid abusers. Also, the food service is to be farmed out to a contractor..whether it means just for the annex or the whole jail is anyone's guess. All this is being done with NO public or employee input. Just about all of the PROMISES made at the meeting (initial construction of the whole facility) have been broken because they were done in secrecy after the fact. I attended this meeting held before a capacity crowd at the Courhouse.

A promise made by Thomas J. Rosasy , one of the top DOC officials was there was NEVER to be over 1850 inmates at ECI. Any guard will tell you there is double that number there and with LESS help. Now the thinking is put more strain in that arena and with the closing of Poplar Hill it's just crazy. I've leaked this information to the County Commissioners. Never the less it seems the State is going ahead as planned. It seems that when the world takes a crap the thinking is to send it to the Eastern Shore.

Please make this public. Bob Aswell

    1. Or is it a secret that Seacrets is opening in the Annex?

  2. Why do you people think that you have a say in goes on in a business or state run prison? "All this is being done with NO public or employee input." Really? They got it opened and will do whatever they want there now.

  3. So? Job is to guard prisoners so guard them.

  4. Who are you kidding? The Daily Times will do their best to sweep this under the rug.

  5. My son is incarcerated at ECI Annex, and he has been hearing this for months. What isn't being acknowledged is the problem with the infrastructure of the Annex itself.

  6. As someone who retired from there can say the infrastructure at the annex is not the problem. It all is on the shoulders of an incompetent supervisors and administrators. After the first three years the supervision and administrators became more concerned about their own promotions and grooming their incompetent buddies. This caused the good Officers, not guards, not to do their jobs according to DOC regulations or get reprimanded for doing their jobs correctly. The hiring has been done on the least capable not the most qualified. The Administration and Supervisors are incompetent and does not attempt to increase the security. They promote lax security which endangers Correctional Officers and all who work inside the fence. The Administrators and the State could care less about the safety of the Public.

    2. 314 not officers but guards or turn keys. You don't have policeman bill of rights because you were not a officer. Guard prisoners not officer prisoners! Got it?

  7. The prison has created jobs but also has been a black-eye to Somerset County. Many new residents to the county are offspring of inmates who survive on entitlements and lower the quality of education. One more reason Somerset County is the shithole of the Eastern Shore.

  8. Somerset county was shithole in 1972 when we moved there. Got out of there within a year.

Come on man, you can't be that stupid. Stop acting like a troll.

And Bob, do you proofread? If you ever write a public letter again I suggest you get someone to read over it or get an app that spell checks and helps correct errors in grammar. I am being serious and hopefully helpful, not an attack.

Ok, you knuckleheads had your little fun, now can any of you offer helpful suggestions, constructive criticism, and any support to what Bob is trying to do? At least Bob is trying to make something better and not just whining about it and complaining.
