FROM A VIEWER---GOLDEN CORRAL

A Viewers Positive Response

We have been going to Golden Corral for several years and have read, on this site the negative comments about the restaurant.

Yes, at that time Golden Corral had been steadily going "downhill"
enough so that my family had decided we would stop going there if
things continued down that spiral path.

They now have a New Manager and we have been amazed to watch
what Mark is doing ! He has such a positive , upbeat personality,
with his staff and the customers, going out of his way to make certain people are treated kindly and have good service and good food. He is "weeding" out those who don't care about their jobs, replacing with those who do. That does take time and he will succeed. If there's a problem , you can go to him and he will take care of the matter . He knows how to deal with "things" in a timely manner and is always respectful. He's introduced newer items to the buffet and works non stop with a caring positive attitude.

We've been privileged to meet some very nice customers while there, and have enjoyed many of the servers , some who've been there for several years. We're pleased with the food now and will continue to visit.

Once a place of business has started to fail it's quite hard and sometimes impossible to "build it back." I watch this young Manager working so diligently to bring the Restaurant up to higher expectations from it's past and hate to think people would not give them another try due to past negative remarks and not knowing there has been the Change in Management.

I've nothing to gain from writing this however I do hope those who might have heard negative comments or at one time had a bad experience there, go back and try it again. We stayed and we're glad we did!

Our thanks to you Mark for helping to bring back what is almost a "Lost Art" in this day and time . Respect, Kindness , Wonderful work ethics, and a Great Sense of Responsibility to do what's right.

Respectfully,

A Customer

    2. Oh I almost forgot. The Chocolate Wonderfall® has been upgraded and is now 10 feet tall pouring gently into a pond complete with rock candy banks and marshmallow koi fish. On kids eat free day let the kids "fish" with gummy worm bait!

    3. My wife and I try to go at least once a week for breakfast. The only problem " we " seem to have is that they start putting out the lunch items around 9 o'clock on Sundays.
And....they need to put out regular bacon. The bacon now is way, WAY, over cooked and way to salty.
It's pretty bad when I think that hardie's has better biscuits and gravy.

    4. Disagree. My husband and I ate there this past Sunday. We arrived at 11 a.m. and they were serving breakfast hot and lots and the bacon was good. Lunch items started coming out at 11:30 and we had the best of breakfast and lunch.

      Two very satisfied customers!

  5. I'll try it one more time , it was a dirty place to eat , food handling at it's worse. Everything was filthy and needed to be sanitized and cleaned.
    Hope you are right !

  6. I hope so! Stopped going years ago, the breakfast was horrible, the food was poor, and the employees not good. I hope it is corrected, in todays society we need places that families can afford to go to eat that is affordable and customer friendly.

  7. Maybe its time to give them a try again?

  8. We stopped going there a couple of years ago. We were regulars. I will stop back to see the improvements. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
And I liked the comment of "will he run for mayor"

  9. Might want to put "Under new management" on the sign! I hope it can be saved and wish them luck. I USED to go frequently, then backed off and would stop in often for the take out buffet. I'm one that has quit going...selection was limited, boring and sometimes tasteless. Four DIFFERENT items would have been nice versus four of the SAME items with different ways of being prepared. The PRICE INCREASES are horrid! Take out buffet went from $4.99 pound to $6.99 pound with NO "senior" discount. The eat in pricing is too high now for this senior. Sorry to say but now there are less expensive buffets or "all you can eat" specials out there that top what Golden Corral has become.

  10. Let me say something here. There have been several unfriendly comments here that have been rejected. Many are suggesting this business paid me to publish this article, WRONG! Others have suggested the manager wrote it himself, WRONG!

I've explained this in the past and I'll repeat it once again. We get letters to the editor every single day. Many we publish, WITHOUT A NAME. We have always done so because of retaliation from the EBT Blogger who personally calls people and or personally attacks people. Even the Daily Times staff and Mayor's Office have stated there's no credibility to these letters because there's no name to them, WRONG! We know exactly who the person is sending in every single one of them. I just refused, (unless it is demanded) to publish their names.

All that being said, I personally know the individual who wrote this letter and I'm pretty sure they let the manager know they could expect to see this message some time today on SBYNews, hence his personal response.

I just have to wonder, when is the EBT Blogger going to realize he has a very serious mental condition/obsession/man crush? Any human being that follows his crap clearly have mental problems as well. I certainly wouldn't want anyone who thinks like that bottom feeder who attacks innocent women and children anywhere near me personally. Get a life, seriously. Then again, perhaps this business refuses to feed what obviously requires a good 50 lbs of food a day for free and he is upset.

  11. Thanks for posting. Haven't been there in years but keep on saying we need to go. I admit some of the negative comments on this site have kept up away. Not tonight because it's Delmar VFW night for dinner but will stop in in the next few days.

  12. I quit going five years ago because of the unsanitary conditions and the unclean desert and ice cream machine station. I also had poor service and food quality was not good. I would be willing to try them again since the management has changed, and hopefully the quality of the service and the food.

  14. This is nice to hear. My family and I used to go occasionally for breakfast on the weekend. It became so lousy we eventually swore off it. Maybe when the new manager is done here he can go fix the Old Mill ha ha!

  17. I'll give it another try, too. I gave up on it last year for all of the above reasons, plus dishes and silverware that always seemed to have dried food particles on them.

  18. I've had the privilege to observe the many changes from then to now. I too agree with your positive comments. I had stopped coming for a while but now I go 4 times per week. He creates an inviting, family atmosphere. I enjoy the moments of conversation. The food is fresh and much hotter than I remember before he came. The other managers have stepped up and followed suit. The servers are warm and friendly. Definitely give this place another try.

  19. And I will also say, people around here will bitch about spending between 7 and 12 bucks for an "all you can eat " buffet but yet would say a word about a burger and fry joint charging 5 to nine bucks for a " meal deal "

  20. My family recently went there and had the pleasure of meeting the manager as he came around to the tables and greeted everybody and made sure all was well.....we had noticed that when we were getting our food, like getting the beef sliced or whatever that you needed assistance with the workers behind the counter would "immediately" stop whatever they were doing and help...I know this is what they are suppose to do, but the fact they did it with a smile meant a lot.

  21. We will give it another try. We were just saying yesterday that we wished there was a buffet style eatery near our home. Thank you again for the post!

  26. We haven't been in years, but I think we will try it again soon.

  27. Good too hear hope to dine their soon, you have to give new management a chance, this is so with any of Salisbury's restaurants. If you don't tell them and make a case in a good way they may not know.

  28. Ever since I mistook fried chicken livers for fried mushrooms I haven't been back. But that was 30 years ago so maybe I'll try again...LOL
