Statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee removed from Dallas park

Crews arranged by Dallas officials removed a statue of Robert E Lee from a pedestal Thursday and carted it away from a park named for the Confederate general.

In an unannounced move, a large crane was brought through the city by a police escort to Lee Park, where it lifted the large statue from its pedestal late Thursday afternoon.

City officials said in a statement that an art conservator monitored the proper handling of the statue, and police tactical officers with automatic rifles provided security.

The statue was lowered onto a flatbed trailer for transport to an abandoned naval air station owned by the city on its western outskirts.

  5. The riots have slowed down a bit since statues have been removed.I can't wait to see what happens when the Buffalo Soldier statues start to come down. That won't be an official ruling mind you. They'll just hook on to them with a chain and pull them down.Nothing formal.Tit for tat.

  8. What do the following people all have in common??

    Alexander Hamilton Stephens
    Edward Douglas White
    James Stephen Hogg
    James Zachariah George
    Jefferson Davis
    John C Brackenridge
    John Caldwell Calhoun
    John E Kenna
    John H Reagan
    Joseph Wheeler
    Nathan Bedford Forrest
    PGT Beauregard
    Robert B Taney
    Roswell Ripley
    Wade Hampton
    Zebulon Baird Vance
    Robert E Lee

They all have statues that have been removed or are petitioned to be removed AND they were all Democrats! All of them supported the confederacy and only one of them was an abolitionist (John H Reagan). In fact, in my research of this history erasing movement, I have only come across a couple statues of people who were actually Republicans or northern Whigs. Seems like Democrats are trying to erase their own wrong doings and they are using the ignorant people of America to do such. Democrats were the party of slavery, not Republicans.
