Improper Display Of The American Flag At Salisbury McDonald's

The McDonald's at 2709 North Salisbury Blvd. in Salisbury has the American flag inverted. The upper clasp is broken, rendering the flag to fly upside down. I went and informed the staff on 9 August, they said they would fix it. I went by again on 10 August and its still being displayed improperly. Today I spoke with the shift manager Crystal. She was aware of the flag situation but seemed unconcerned of the severity of the issue. I informed her that if it cannot be displayed properly it should be lowered and removed properly. Her response was that she would have to call the general manager and get permission. I asked if I could lower it and stow it properly, she said no. The staff was in bewilderment as I informed the manager of proper use and display of the American flag. No one seemed concerned at all, just concerned with the next order. Sad times in hometown Salisbury!

  4. So, get the store number from a receipt and go online to the corporate website and make the complaint. Your will get a response thanking you for your concerns and assuring you that action will be taken to get it corrected...and it will be corrected when corporate notifies the store to fix it. Don't deal with the store directly on this. Heck, you might even get some coupons for some free food if you don't sound all high and mighty and offended that the store took no action on the complaint. Be nice, it'll get fixed.

  7. If you want a better response, then they should be paid $15 per hour. That will make them work harder...lol

  8. Call Baxter Enterprises (410-572-6031, the franchisee who owns most of the McDonalds on the Eastern Shore. They are in Northgate Center off of Naylor Mill Road. Ask for Tom Baxter or Rose Emerick, I believe is his daughter.

  9. I have notice for months now at night a flag that is not lit. It is at the war memorial on Route 13 across from Pep Boys. This is disgraceful! The city wanted to place 5 or 6 more flags/poles on that site. WHY they can't keep the American Flag lit at night.

  10. I noticed at the Library down town is flying the flag. The last time I saw it it was tattered/torn. WHY?

  11. @ 4:15, just finished emailing corporate with my full details. Just the facts. They can keep their coupons, I despise food from Micky d's! I can't believe no one else noticed this disrespect on display!

  13. Our own City or County's American flag across 50 from the GOB is hanging by only the top clasp. I saw it about 8 months ago hanging from just the bottom clasp on a windy Saturday, and when I took it down to take to the City Police station, saw that the halyard line was old rotted nylon and was about to break. I told the City police officer about its condition, but when I stopped the other day seeing it hanging by just the top one, saw that the halyard had never been replaced.

I guess 30 feet of rope from Ace Hardware is just too much for out GOB to spend on our Nation's Stars and Stripes.

  14. She works at MCDONALDS where they can't even get an order right. Does anyone really think she knows how to take the flag down from that pole. Probably have to hire someone just to put it up.

  16. It's a witless, ignorant manager with no sense of propriety that won't take immediate action on something like this. After this blog article reaches McDonald's corporate the problem will be fixed right away, but it should have been as soon as it happened.
Boo on the north end McDonald's management for letting itself be embarrassed by something as foolish as this.

  17. do you really expect the mental midgets at mcyd's to actually know proper etiquette when it comes to how one displays our flag?

Sad it is. We are talking about Mickey D's employees and managers. Don't expect them to know how to properly fky the Flag. Some of them have hard time tying their own shoestrings. But I would bet they would be in the streets protesting & demanding $15/hr. minimum wage. SMH.

  19. Flag etiquette should be taught in schools and the kids should do the flag raisings every day, not the janitors.

  20. This means they were under distress and in extreme danger. Calling the cops would have been appropriate. No one should be permitted to raise and lower the flag without basic knowledge. If Baxter just wants to put something up their flag pole to show they have one, maybe a Ronald McDonlad flag would be more appropriate. I have no use for them or that store.

  21. Several businesses and some institutions lowered American flag when Brooke Milford passed. When questioned they replied Jake Dagym ordered half mast. Just how ignorant some have become

  22. The US flag and the Maryland flag have been hanging inproperly for at least a year, maybe longer at the PEPSI plant on Snow Hill Rd. I have called numerous times to tell them the US flag is on the shorter pole and the Maryland flag is flying higher. I have not had any response.

  23. Anyone ever notice, Fruitland's new PD doesn't even have flag poles!
I have mentioned this, but nobody has an answer....Hey Ricky, isn't this your area???

  24. 6:26 PM - Good idea! It shouldn't be just the Boy Scouts and JROTC that know how to handle the national ensign. Are you listing, BOE?

  25. How stupid are they....simply don't fly the flag at all until fixed....damn that's a hard decision......

  28. Out of curiosity, is there a proper way to dispose of the smaller flags that I set out in my yard for holidays? I'm talking about the ones that are about 2 foot high. Mine are getting frayed.

  29. 9:28 You can take your flags to the VFW or a local Boy Scout Troop and they will dispose of them properly for you.
I don't think they teach flag respect in school any longer. Young people just don't know or understand.

  32. Why are they even displaying the flag ? Can't they just wave Ronald McDonald ?
What they serve does no one any good and created a business model that caters to the health malaise of their lazy non cooking impulsive obese patrons. These enterprises are what is wrong with America. We have become a nation of lazy persons that will sit in a drive through for a salty fatty treat because we have accepted that live is taxing and a struggle and we deserve deadly rewards and distractions from life making.
