EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE MOVIEPASS DEAL

MoviePass offers unlimited movies at select theaters for only $10 a month! That’s it. Here’s everything you need to know about
the MoviePass deal.

I am a HUGE fan of going to the movies — from the electric atmosphere, to the smell of freshly popped popcorn, to the excitement buzzing around patrons as they discuss the latest film to be released on-screen. There’s truly nothing like it. Being such an avid movie fan, I like to stay in the know about the most recent news regarding films. And let me tell you, I was ecstatic to hear about the MoviePass deal. For only $10 a month, I could see an unlimited amount of films at the movie theater?! Heck yes! Where do I sign up?

But, like most things, there are pros and cons that should be considered. So, before you sign up, let me give you a rundown of the MoviePass deal, what benefits there are, and the disadvantages.

What is the MoviePass?

Created by Netflix co-founder and former Redbox president Mitch Lowe, MoviePass allows you to have the option to see up to one movie in the theaters every day. It first debuted in 2011 as a service that let film lovers see one theatrically released movie per day for $30 a month. Now, that’s still a fairly good deal, especially considering how expensive movie theater tickets are nowadays. It wasn’t until recently that the service announced its new business model and dropped the monthly fee from $30 to $10.

  1. This makes sense. How often do most people goe to the movies? I haven't been this year. So, if the get people going at least once a month, that's $120 that they didn't have before. And, since most people will end up buying overpriced refreshments, that's good profit.
Kind of like cruise ships 'giving away' rooms. It's better to squeeze money out of customers once you have them there. An empty seat (or room) is a waste.

  2. BINGO 750 empty seats (or room as in HOTEL ROOMS OC CITY FAIL) is a waste!!!!!

MoviePass would seem like a win/win - until a business complains, then everyone loses out!

  3. Sounds like something the government needs to give out with the EBT cards and Obama phones. They need something to do with all the free time they have avoiding work. And who else has time to go to the movies EVERY day? Only the unemployed. If phones and food and housing are entitlements (that the rest of us have to work for), then why not free movies every day?
