Woman arrested for towing kids in little red wagon

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- An Oregon mother has been accused of endangering three young children by towing them behind her car in a little red wagon.

Springfield police said 27-year-old Alana Donahue was arrested Wednesday night after at least four motorists reported seeing the car pulling the plastic wagon with her two-year-old daughter, 4-year-old son and 8-year-old nephew inside.

Drivers said the woman waved at vehicles to pass as she slowly drove in circles in a roundabout. A witness reported seeing the car going above 30 mph, and the 2-year-old toddler began crying after the wagon tipped up on two wheels. The witness told police that Donahue took her toddler from the wagon to the car, and then continued driving with the 4-year-old and 8-year-old still in the wagon.

  3. I would need more information on this. If she was truly going over 30 MPH. She is either stupid or doesn't care for her kids. But something smells fishy here.

  7. Something with that left coast atmosphere.

Air, weed, coffee, food, very nut numbing cold Northern Pacific Ocean as well as being 3 hours behind the real world:

EAST COAST USA - home of mud bogs and tractor pulls. None of this fancy pulling plastic car's crap!

I'd snicker, but that was truly dangerous!!!

  10. I smell BS! when the media reports 30 mph, then you have to factor in the media BS rule. So really, it was only 10 mph.

  11. Let me ask this - How many of us were pulled on a car hood or a sled behind a tractor, lawn mower or a 4 wheeler or a pick up? And thought it was ok- just an American trying to have some clean fun!

  14. There's a huge metaphor in all of this. Oregon liberal, pulling the next generation in a cheap red wagon with a car attached with a short rope, around and around on a roundabout, without thinking about the very possible negative outcomes...

If this were 1950, she'd be getting a visit from one of McCarthy's people. And then probably a frontal lobotomy.

  15. Hey! Parents do this all the time in OC in the bus lane. The only difference is that they pull the babies with their bikes. Maybe pulling by car might be safer?

    2. Yes, very much the same exact thing. I rate both as stupid.

  16. 30mph is way too fast, especially with kids that young. A few years back I pulled my kids and grandkids behind my pickup on a sled in the middle of a field when we had that large snowfall.

Everyone had fun and no one was hurt. 30mph on pavement even with a helmet, which I don't think these kids had, can seriously hurt them and worse.

Don't try this at home folks.
