DNR Police Blotter 6-1-17


Continued surveillance at Fishing Creek Bridge in Dorchester County resulted in charges against 18 people and the seizure of 261 striped bass.

On May 28 at 5:20 a.m., the following people were charged with catching too many striped bass and keeping undersized fish: Omar Martinez Ramirez, 24, of Lanham; Felipe Rodriguez Morales, 28, of Lanham; Ruperto Cruz Carino Blames, 24, of Lanham; Anselmo Luna Lima, 23, of Hyattsville; Eden Ramirez Labastida, 24, of Beltsville; and Luis Luna Lima, 21 of Hyattsville.

A short time later, officers charged the following people with catching too many fish and keeping undersized fish: Sergio Noe Martinez Monroy, 39, of Hyattsville; Elvir Rigoberto Ortiz Aroche, 34, of Mount Ranier; and Edin Najera Morales, 38, of Hyattsville.

Earlier, officers charged five people from Temple Hill: Cinthia Servellon Mercado, 24, Eli Barue Colindres Navarrete, 39, Gustavo Adolfo Ostoro-Gald, 36, Julio Flores, 35, and Omar Ezequiel Castro, 18, were each charged with possession of undersized striped bass, exceeding the daily creel limit and fishing in a prohibited area. All but Ostoro-Gald also were charged with fishing without a license.

All 14 defendants are due in Dorchester County District Court Aug. 16. Each charge carries a maximum fine of $1,500.

On May 27, shortly after midnight, officers charged the following people: Bani Asael Garcis Barahona, 33, of Oxon Hill; Carlos Enrique Cabrera Ramirez, 45, of Temple Hills; Adriana Beatriz Lopez Mejia, 27, of Oxon Hill; and Yeny Sarai Juarez Velasquez, 35, of Oxon Hill.

The four defendants have been schedule to appear in Dorchester County District Court July 19.

A Montgomery County man was charged with multiple hunting violations May 8 by an officer acting on a citizen tip.

Shawn Patrick Snider, 35, of Damascus, received citations for hunting waterfowl out of season and killing waterfowl on the water. He received a written warning for hunting without permission.

When officers arrived at Snider’s home, they saw two dead geese laying in the driveway. One of the geese had been banded in 2013 in Darnestown, about 15 miles south.

Snider acknowledged the geese were his and that he drove his all-terrain vehicle to a nearby pond to kill them.

A hearing date in Montgomery County District Court has been set for July 18. If found guilty, Snider could be fined as much as $750.

A Florida man was arrested and charged with a handgun violation Sunday by Maryland Natural Resources Police officers at an event at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

Michael Steven Friend Jr., 32, of Port Saint Lucie, was a vendor at the Repitcon Reptile Show when officers checking for the sale of illegal species noticed he was wearing a gun in a holster that was covered by his shirt.

After learning that Friend did not have a concealed carry permit, officers arrested him. The 9 mm handgun was loaded with 17 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

A hearing date has not been set.

  2. If the goal is compliance with the fishing regulations of MD, it would seem that signs in the area of the bridge in english and spanish as well as a few signs along the route to Fishing Creek would work. If too stupid to follow the law, then off to jail.

  3. Look at those names, where are these people from? They are definitely too stupid to follow the law cause in their respective countries they didn't have to, now they are here and think they can do the same. Deport them, all of them.

  12. It takes a Lawyer to figure out the regulations that are posted on their sight and none of these people can probably read at all.
