Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) on Tuesday demanded “immediate emergency hearings” over President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey.
“Congress needs to have immediate emergency hearings to obtain testimony directly from Attorney General [Jeff] Sessions, the deputy attorney general and FBI Director Comey,” Cummings said in a statement.
“The White House was already covering up for [former national security adviser] Michael Flynn by refusing to provide a single document to Congress, and now the President fired the one independent person who was doing the most to investigate President Trump and his [2016] campaign over allegations of coordination with Russia.”
Cummings added that Sessions’ involvement in Comey’s ouster is “mind boggling,” noting that Sessions stated that he would recuse himself from investigations into any ties between Trump and Russia.
“There is now a crisis of confidence at the Justice Department, and President Trump is not being held accountable because House Republicans refuse to work with us to do our job,” the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee added.

Once again Cummings disgraces Maryland in the National Spotlight. The fact is there is no Russian story. It's all been disproven time and again. There has been hours of testimony where everyone in the Intel Community has said there is NO EVIDENCE of any collusion. This stupid track the Democrats seem hell bent on pursuing is getting ridiculous and seriously disturbing by the minute. They are making themselves look worse. Why can't Democrats just stand mute for a change? Instead they opt to the most ludicrous stance available.

ReplyDeleteCummings / Schumer / Pelosi along with the other DumbocRATs want a special prosecutor. I say yes because if they do they will have to reopen Hillary investigations to a special prosecutor. They will not want that but Clinton's investigation and the Russian investigation is tied together. Also the special investigator will have to investigate Hillary's campaign workers also since they also had contact with Russians during this same period and got paid money from the Russians. Nobody reporting this.
