A Viewer Writes: West Salisbury Robberies

There have been a number of robberies in the West Salisbury area over the past few days. (West Pemberton, West Nithsdale, etc) and none of these cases have made the news. One house was robbed today in broad daylight, one house was robbed around 1:30 am yesterday morning, and a 92 year old woman was raped during a recent home invasion. Please encourage your readers who live in the normally safe west side (or in any part of Salisbury, for that matter) to be vigilant and keep their eyes open for a white panel van that may be cruising around looking for targets. And please keep the victims and families in your prayers during this difficult time.

  1. The house that was robbed at 1:30 am the other morning was in the new expansion of West Nithsdale.

  2. Take heart! Your state and local leaders are on it. With plans to make MD a sanctuary state AND adding Sec. 8 housing to the downtown waterfront, they have your safety and security first and foremost in their hearts.

  3. It's ok. The City is hiring more firemen to make the streets safer. [ sarcasm ]

  4. Doesn't anyone holding office in Wicomico have any common sense? We left Salisbury many years go and will not return. We just can't believe the crime (much of which goes unreported) and the dumbest idea yet is to put low income housing on the downtown river! Ever think about condos for the mid to upper income people and the taxes it could bring in? I never see the police chiefs name in print, or see pictures of her in the news. Is she there doing anything? Sorry about the rant.....times have sure changed the town I grew up in!

  6. Take heed , security systems are a must , arms in the home are a must , teach your family to shoot with your preferred weapon. It's only going to get worse. We are at a turning point in this country , the left has supported violence so we must protect ourselves. They have tied the hands of law enforcement . If you love your family and the country arm your self now. After one or two shootings of these illegal acts , and it makes the SBY news it will slow down quickly .

  7. Did you say 92 year old? THis guy is sick and deranged.
Just like I suggested for fruitland, every neighborhood should install a security camera at its entrance. Might not prevent the fiirst occurance, but could help prevent subsequent.

  9. I live west of Salisbury near Hebron, and on my road, many of my neighbors have complained about items missing out of their cars. My next door neighbor told me someone went into her glove compartment and removed some items. My son had his comb removed from his front seat. We now have to make sure our cars are locked when we get home. Never had to do this before since we live in the country. I think there are homeless and drug users roaming the neighborhood looking for cash or items they can use. There are a few abandoned homes in my area and I strongly suspect there are people staying there. One of my neighbors had an order delivered to his doorstep, and someone stole it. In over thirty years I have lived in this neighborhood, I have not seen anything like this until recently.

    1. Sounds to me that these are heroin addicts looking to cash in. You have to lock your car and home now days. I don't trust anyone .

  10. the Crime sheet mentions only the burglary and not the rape--how do we know what happened for sure, and why does everything around here get buried

  11. Are these homes in the city or county? Crime is crime, but which LEA is responsible for the areas describes. Looks like WCSO to me. Out state is encouraging law enforcement to not prosecute non-violent crimes committed by those in the country illegally. That would be most of these. Not acceptable that we can't even live in our own homes with some expectation of safety.

  17. 10:30 AM are you that stupid???? are you??? If it happens in the city it is the MAYOR'S responsibility, not the county!!!!!! But I wouldn't expect someone who even made such a stupid statement understand that!!!!

  20. How about all the crime in the parking lots/garage at PRMC. I have seen nothing in the news about that either.

  21. They are not robberies they are burglaries. Huge difference. As long as the heroin epidemic continues to grow so will property crimes.

  22. Our Little League Field in West Salisbury has needles on them. Before every game we are walking the fields so kids do not get injured. Why doesnt this make news?

  23. Why is so much emphasis on Jurisdiction? The issue is all the Crime. Just use common sense and lock your doors take your keys and be vigitant.
I doubt I would call 911 because that has proven to be a waste of time in the past. Kill the Perp, eventually someone will post a missing person report and the Deputies can ride around on their New Harleys and look for the circling Vultures!

  24. Apparently there's no crime in the county either. When will people wake up and stop letting politicians and media get away with their fake news?
