PETITION: Salisbury councilwoman should resign over inappropriate Facebook status!
On Thursday 4/6/17, councilwoman, April Jackson for the city of Salisbury updated her status on Facebook which read "Ya'lls President is RETARDED... He's far pass the Holly Center." She took down the post after 12 hours, but was quoted by WBOC on 4/7/17 (Here) as saying "I just used the Holly Center as a place I know where people have mental illness. I stand by what I said about (President Trump)... Maybe I was wrong for using the Holly Center to say something about (President Trump), but I stand by what I said about him."
Many Salisbury residents have called for her resignation! Specifically because of the very offensive word used in her post to describe those with mental illness.
If you feel that she should be removed from the City Council, if you do not want her to represent you and this city, then please sign this petition!! Also please read the info below (it came straight from the mayor). Thank you everyone!
I have reached out to councilwoman Jackson for comment, but as of the time this petition went live I've received no response.
She does not know the difference between mental illness and developmental disabled! This being so, it's obvious she doesn't have the intellectual ability to be making decisions that could affect the city and it's residents for generations!
I can't see how this is productive unless it is signed only by those in her district. We all know they won't sign or most anyway. Most of those in her district do not have a value system and lack morals. They demand we do as they say but then say whatever hateful offensive divisive things they want.
You dont know that. Most people in her community say she is wrong. Howeverthe racist comments spewed on various sites including this one has made people support her although they are genuinely disgusted w/ what she did.
She can be removed for one or a combination of three things: malfeasance, misfeasance or non-feasance in the commission of her elected position's duties. If none of these are found to have been committed, she cannot be removed, no matter how disgusting, disparaging or inappropriate her comments are.
She is a black lady , an African American , she is a person of color , that being said , set this in your mind and remember what I say. Nothing will be done . the council and the state will allow any and all remarks from these people , you know it and I know it. Remember this statement "nothing will be done" , she will laugh about it and much more vocal in future. Did you know she is related to Shanie ?

Pt Mayor did not vote April into office. Laura and April were voted into office by residents of their respective districts. Yes her comments were deplorable to those who were ineligible to vote for her. Poll the precincts in April's district and you will see most agree with her opinion. We are free to give our opinions, Because her opinion is the complete opposite of mine is not a reason to be kicked of office. Say a prayer and hope she resigns.
She should resign - failing her performing that proper action, the citizens can and SHOULD recall her!
Meanwhile, based on the laws in effect at the time of the election, President Trump IS the president of the entire country and represents its citizens. If you won't accept him as your president, you should go to another place and elect someone there!
As a public figure, personal feelings mean nothing. If she is unable to distinguish between personal and professional, then she is unable to serve the public.

I've been so over the political correctness. If she wants to use words offensive to some let her. It's her business. If you don't like it vow to do better for yourself. Don't try to change anyone. As an elected official, the link between her constituents and the greater community she should know without skipping a beat what services are available and for whom. I've never lived in Salisbury , always 20 miles away. I've kept up with the city meetings for about 10 years. Never have I ever seen such BS as this city puts out. My wife and I get a kick out of the meetings and LOL many times over. Salisbury government is the laughing stock of America. Deputy Chief 1 advises that the bridges are up. BWAHAHAHA!! Great planning you dumb clowns. That's about the 3rd time I've heard the bridges were up today!
Is anyone else noticing the pattern or "Reported Structure Fires" that Wicomico Central is dispatching Salisbury for? All of which are FALSE ALARMS! Bob Culver they are your employees so WTH are you doing allowing them to dispatch these false fire calls almost every single day. This is how Salisbury is trying to justify their jobs and prove that the "volunteers can't get out." The volunteers know most of these so called fire are false calls and a waste of their times. The Salisbury Fire Department is going to be charging the County for each of these fire engine and ambulance responses based on the new fire service agreement. Central and the Salisbury Fire Department are constantly abusing their jobs at the tax payers expense. They get enough information from the caller that they know damn well that there isn't a fire. The County is being screwed over by it's own dispatchers and Bob is to dumb to do anything about it.
Now they have volunteers responding from home and putting many lives at risk for nothing.
Now they have 3 paid fire engines and numerous chiefs cars and SUV's racing to the address to get their first. All the meanwhile someone is going to misjudge the speed of one of these vehicles and cause a serious accident.
It's just a matter of time when one of these idiots racing to a false call ends up killing someone. Guess who is going to be named in the suit? The SFD driver, the SFD officers and chiefs, the dispatchers, the dispatchers supervisors, the county council and the County Executive. That's right Bob Culver will be the main person responsible for this law suit.
Her election is the end result of the division into separate council districts in Salisbury, and a good reason return to a single, citywide (at-large) system.
Bad idea. If April Jackson is removed who will take her seat? Better to keep the idiot you know than replace her with an idiot we don't know.
