  2. So lets get this STRAIGHT can you Imagine what there ratings would be IF the county and citys told the truth and stopped downgrading crime stats it would be a BIG FAT F RATING but the numbers are being fudged to NOT scare away SU PARENTS AND $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  3. If there was a way to get the true numbers and facts from SU you would really be surprised and their enrollment numbers would severely drop. They cover-up or use creative writing of reports to misrepresent the facts or they would be fired.

  4. My son who is white has been going to UMES for the past three years now. I have been to the campus several timea for different events and when he moves to a new dorm. There are several campus police call buttons through out the campus grounds. It's a small enough university, that he knows all the instructors and they know him. Except for some racial prejudice from some of the classmates, I feel he is as safe as he can be under the circumstances. He has other female friends as well and I haven't heard of any real incidents of rape or crime there except for some out of control students at the homecoming event. Most of the time the problems are from outsiders who come to visit the school.

    1. ......and you know this how? I would hope for the sake of the students and town people you would report your knowledge to the Campus, town or state police. All are a great bunch of LEO so would protect you and your identify. It is people like you, coming forward, with names and places that save communities from drugs, and crime/

  6. A student was arrested for murder last year after killing a young man in Baltimore but brought his body back to Princess Anne and dumped it in a ditch. A few years before a student was murdered in his girlfriend's vehicle and in 2012, their was a armed holdup of a student on campus late Sunday night.

  7. Yes you can smell the Marijuana coming from the open windows from the dorm rooms, but this is nothing new. This was going on when I went to college back in the eighties. It might be prohibited, but it's still going to go on. Most of them usually burn out in the first year from drinking and partying. Sad, but I am afraid it's at just about every college or technical school.

You only hope the values you teach your kids will help while in school. My experience was the wildest kids were the ones who had the strictest parents.
I told my son to learn as much as possible, and take advantage of everything that is offered in college. Avoid negative people and look for positive roll models. It is true that people judge you by the company you keep. I did this when I was in school. I was in a dorm with guys who wanted party every night. I moved out of that dorm and stayed with nerds or non party people. I was better off and my grades improved.

  8. This has been known for years. Most don't choose this school got that reason. Some only go because it's the only school that offers classes that they need. It really needs to be shut down.

  10. Must be the new liberal common core grading system where a D+, a D-, and a D+ earns an overall grade of C.

  11. UMES is a great University. The drop out rate is mainly because they either cannot pass the courses or drop out due to financial reasons. Yes my son is there because they offer courses that SSU doesn't offer and unless he is willing to go to Penn State or West Virginia University or Virginia Tech, He can get these instate tuition rates and stay home without paying the high cost of out of state tuition and housing. In six months he will have his masters degree in Architecture and and Construction management with a minor in Civil Engineering with all the accreditation of of a University of Maryland Diploma. When he is not in school he is working in his field of study. His future is looking very bright!

    1. It wouldn't hurt YOU to go back to school. Maybe learn some basic grammar and spelling, then go on to learn about people and life in general. Have you ever even been ON the UMES campus? Have you spoken to any students? Do you always have opinions based on nothing?

  17. 4:44 you might think UMES is safer than SU, but you have to take into consideration the number of thugs that attend that so-called school most of them will never graduate. If you want to send your so-called white kids there, you go ahead, but you'll never catch my kin there. Filthy city, filthy campus.

  19. @3:50. Cannot pass the courses? Then your saying they are too stupid to pass the courses? I believe that alright. The majority of them go there to party and because it is paid for by someone else.
