What's In It For Me?

Last night the Salisbury City Council butted heads on the proposal to hire a new law firm to represent the City.

Jim Ireton and April Jackson voted against hiring the new firm while Muir Boda and Jack Heath voted for the new firm. However, the newly appointed council member Rudasil abstained because of a conflict of interest. Ultimately it died and Mark Tilghman will remain as council for the City, FOR NOW.

As I understand it, they only way it can be brought up again is if one of the council members who voted against hiring the new firm brings it up again, hmmmmmm!

Could it be that former Mayor Jim Ireton can use this power to say, what's in it for me? After all, it's no secret that Jim Ireton has never been a friend to Mark Tilghman. Time will tell.

  1. What was the issue with Mark Tilghman's office? Late billing again?

Note that, unlike his predecessor, none of Tilghman's work has been challenged in court and no one has sued the city because of it.
Not so with Paul Wilber's; his work cost the city hundreds of thousands of dollars in unnecessary fees, court time and forever lost city tax revenue in the millions, a developer millions in profits through a killed project, and a string of embarrassments that led to his firing.

  2. Ya'll should take a look at how they 'rated' the candidates. Prior experience representing municipalities only counted for 10% in their system. Day was a-okay with having someone with zero personal experience in municipal law appointed as your city attorney.

  3. Paul Wilber was a puppet. And not a very good attorney.

  4. Is Day trying again to get his buddy and former campaign chief, Gilmore, as city attorney?

  7. People should stop denigrating dog catchers. They do a lot more than catch stray dogs and are real public servants. Underpaid public servants, at that!

  8. With Ireton's background as a rabid Democrat, anything is possible. As a councilman in the mid-2000's, he left town in the middle of his term for Baltimore for "personal" reasons. During his terms as mayor, he accomplished nothing except to put strainers on some sewers and confound and waste the time of the sitting councils with stupid and pointless issues. As a councilman (again), he's done nothing to promote or improve the city.
What people were thinking when they voted for him is a question that can't be answered.
Suffice it to say that this will be the highest elected position that he will ever hold. It's sad, and a testament to the gullibility of the local electorate, that he will receive a state pension for it. But that's what he does, play the system.

  9. It appears that city council is right back to where it was when Campbell, and Cohen were on board and the votes were equally split. The mayor was heavily involved in that mess as well. Get rid of the common denominator because he only causes a great deal of trouble and problems for others.

  11. 6:48pm Where to start on what you said. Ireton's "personal" reasons were that he was too immature to handle his seat and he ran away. There were no personal reasons unless you're talking about running out of men on Craigslist in Salisbury.

Everything is about him. He is a flaming narcissist who can't control himself. And yes THIS will be his last officer anywhere.
