BALTIMORE —The Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland is warning consumers about a Maryland-based auto warranty company that they said is doing bad business with customers' money.
The BBB has given the Auto Warranty Agency an F rating and officials said they're dealing with a lot of frustrated customers.
Connie Mitchell knew she would eventually need work done on the used Mercedes that had 60,000 miles on it when she bought it last year. That is what led her to the Auto Warranty Agency, which was advertising extended car service contracts.
Mitchell said that she paid nearly $4,000 for the contract and got a receipt confirming the company received her money.
But when it came time to need car service, Mitchell said she ran into problems

ReplyDelete12:31 EXACTLY RIGHT!!!! What you spend on extended warranties you can save and pay for most of the repair work directly.....nothing but rip-offs.....just about the same as insurance! A BIG PAIN right where we sit!

ReplyDeleteI disagree that an extended warranty is a rip-off. I have used mine many times. I would only purchase one through a large dealership though. More accountability then a smaller dealership when it comes to this.
ReplyDeleteRather than give someone your money just put it in a savings account. If you need it you have access to it. If you don't need it, then you have money in a savings account.

Common sense....you know the car is going to have major problems, you negotiate the price down to account for that. Even a legitimate aftermarket warrantee is not going to cover pre-existing problems.

I sent in the correct info, owners name, managers name, phone number, etc. but Joe saw fit not to post it. he does that now and then
Even a legitimate aftermarket warrantee is not going to cover pre-existing problems.

lol it's an automobile, not a human body. how would they know if any vehicle had any 'pre-existing conditions' unless they were noted beforehand? and if they were noted beforehand, that should be reflected in the price of the vehicle.
