Heated Walkway Installed at Maryland Governor’s Mansion

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A new heated walkway is being installed at the Maryland governor’s mansion.

Doug Mayer, a spokesman for Gov. Larry Hogan, said Thursday the old walk needed to be replaced due to safety concerns. He says snow-melting cables were added to save money in the long term, because snow won’t have to be shoveled. He didn’t have an exact cost estimate, but he says it’s under $100,000.

Mayer adds that the decision was made by a department in the administration and that the governor was not aware of it.

  7. 3 hrs shoveling at $10/HR = 3,333 snow days. Wait. Better recalculate for being a union state employee $35/HR.
