Senate Votes to Require Women to Register for the Draft After January 1, 2018

The Senate has approved a defense budget that would also require women to register for the draft. The new rules would apply to any woman who turns 18 on or after January 1, 2018. The key opponents to drafting women were conservative Republicans, including your old friend, botched Madam Tussauds exhibit Ted Cruz.

This one has been brewing for a while: back in April, the House Armed Services Committee voted to approve a version of the National Defense Authorization Act, the mammoth yearly military budget, that included women in the draft. (The full NDAA appropriates $602 billion to the armed services, because the United States spends more on our military budget than any other country on earth and the next seven countries combined.)

But the conservative Republican Congressman who introduced the “draft women” provision doesn’t actually support it; Rep. Duncan Hunter of California intended it as “gotcha amendment,” because he didn’t think liberals would vote to draft women. He was trying to make some sort of curious point about how Democrats don’t really support integrating women into the military, specifically into combat roles. Hunter then proceeded to vote against his own amendment. It was all very odd.

  1. The new brainwashed generation of soliders? Include enough safe spaces? Huh guess they won't be able to get out of service when they feel like a man and or women. A Catch 22? Not matter what your junk your in the army now!!

  2. The government will force women to work in the military once they run out of cannon fodder who volunteer. The government wants them to "serve" the country. It cares about them. It is for their own good.

  3. A woman is not meant to be in the battle of war. Our souls and hearts are naturally geared towards protection, nuture, love, comfort, and peace. Not only is the elite trying to rob our natural motherly instincts by forcing us to be masculine they are robbing men of their natural given masculinity to defend.

To say we are all equal is true, but it should not imply that we are all equally made. If the left has preached anything more diligently it's the fact that being different is acceptable.

Yet they don't want us to acknowledge our differences with pride but rather they'd have us bury them as nonexistant. I don't want to be put in the same category as a man. I'm stronger than a man - in different ways. And weaker and dependent upon a man - in other ways.

They are trying to rob men and women of the one gift a woman gives. A child... who would learn and feel protection, nuture, love, comfort, and above all else peace.

  4. Hopefully we never have to draft anyone again. Thank your volunteers, Americans! If they didn't volunteer, you would likely not have a choice!

  5. Good, they can stop bullets as well as my sons! This is what they wanted, now they will be rapped when captured too!

  6. Hey 8:31 you must have more than a few screws loose and no daughters. Hoping women service people can be captured and raped is just crazy. You probably raised your sons ( if you had any) to act like the Stanford rapist, his father and the judge. As a female veteran, I know many women who served in the middle east and feared their male counterparts as much as they did the enemy. Look at the rape statistics for the military. But you know what, every woman I served with was able to handle the harrassment and still do their job. Without some of the past women veterans, serving as nurses, a lot more young men may not have made it had home.

  8. If everyone wants to be equall and pc guess what? That is about as fair as it gets. Why should a womans life be more valuable than a mans? If men can get drafted but not women then that is a clear case of one sex's life being more valuable than the others. Feminist every where should be cheering.

  10. OK, guys, and when these women get drafted, I hope you are perfectly happy and willing to stay home with the kids and make sure they are fed, played with, bathed, read to and put to bed at a decent hour then start all over again tomorrow with the same routine and if they are of school age, make sure they get there on time, take them to all their after school activities, make sure their homework is done on time, etc. etc. etc. And...no you don't have time out to go to a bar, go out with the guys, go play pool or sit and watch a football game all night. It's all about the kids, remember that.
