Confederate flags broken, taken off truck; father, daughter arrested

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Charleston Police say a 22-year-old woman's emotions over the Confederate flag landed her and her father in custody over the weekend.

Lydia Marsha Folckomer, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested Saturday and charged with removal/destruction of private property. Her father, 50-year-old Paul Folckomer, of Brevard, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with simple assault.

Police say Lydia snapped off flags attached to a truck parked on Murray Boulevard around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

The truck and flags belonged to two men standing on the sidewalk of Murray Boulevard and East Battery holding Confederate and "Historical Southern Flags," police say.

    1. It doesn't matter if they are or not. The young woman had no right to destroy someone's personal property.

  4. Maybe they are racists. No worse than the nasty black racists that I come across all the time. The First Amendment denies government or anyone else the right to suppress their opinions.

  5. Any and all non US flags offend me. If you live in the US then you fly the Stars and Stripes or any other US flags such as Military and POW. The Naval Jack, Some call the Confederate Flag, is a US Flag of wartimes in our history. You don't like my opinion then move out of the US.

Wow. So you don't believe that your fellow citizens are allowed to have their own opinions?

  7. I have an opinion they can have their opinions but when you disrespect an American Flag then you don't respect our Constitution. Then why are you in the US besides mooching off the US Taxpayer. This is my opinion.

  8. Lydia was "very upset" by the Confederate flags, according to police.

So...go back to NYC if so depressed.

It upsets me that you are walking our streets.
