“60 Minutes” correspondent Morley Safer, who retired just a week ago after 52 years at CBS, has died, the network announced on Thursday. He was 84.
"60 Minutes" said goodbye to Safer on Sunday, honoring the newsman who was a fixture at the CBS newsmagazine.
The tribute marked the close of a decades-long career for Safer, who, according to the program, had the longest-ever run on prime-time television.

ReplyDeleteApparently he was in declining health these past few years according to TMZ. I am sure the retirement was because of this. I guess he knew he didn't have much time left. He lived life on his own terms! Have to respect that.
ReplyDeleteMan, those Sixty Minutes guys won't give up the money until they literally have one foot in the grave. Just like Andy Rooney. "Retire," then die. CBS would have done the network, those guys, and the viewers a huge favor if they had retired those guys twenty years sooner.
