Hey this is really sad! We had same thing Wednesday night at the field in Winter Place with 10-12 yr olds playing.....coach cursing, acting like a fool over calls by the umpire. The coach no doubt has issues....wants to be a big fish in a little pond! The sad thing they SHOULD be teaching sportsmanship.... He acted like a fool with 20 or more kids watching. This was not his first case as the league President says oh him again.... This "coach" needs to be kicked out and enter anger management!! The President needs to grow a pair and handle the problem before something like this article happens here!!!!
it's really sad, but there have been quite a few times at county recreation league soccer (it's not even a competitive league, it's called rec-league for a reason) that parents get in a twist. sometimes it seems as though they are trying to provoke an incident. it's unbelievable.
Man is is disheartening to see this community and country going to pieces right before our own eyes. So very sad, not saying someone didn't get knocked around back in my youth. Seemed different though, maybe forgotten ten minutes later in most cases.
I think you need to add some of the so called coaches and leaders as well. They put so much emphasis on getting recognition and accolades that it inevitably becomes all about the adults and nothing to do with the kids and the "recreation" of youth sports. When did we start putting kids in isolated travel ball programs at the ages of 8 years old and up and kids 15-16 verbal committing to play at certain universities, are you kidding me how does a kid as a freshman sophomore really know where they want to go to school?? It has to be about the sports and and parents and making the coaches look great it's not about the kids anymore. Case in point BILL CROPPER. So called youth baseball just go around him for 5 minutes he will tell you how great he is

ReplyDeleteNeither coach should ever be permitted to coach kids again. Period.
ReplyDeleteUsually this kind of behavior is from dads who didn't get far in highschool/college sports and and are trying to live though their children.
