A Viewer Writes: Daily Times

Does anyone prof the Times? The TV schedule in the Sunday paper was, I believe, for last Friday.

  1. While we are making complaints this morning , I would like to mention again about the weather on WBOC.
I have a wish that Joe Albero would do a small segment on the weather.
Reason: 1. I don't think the weather people should be telling you that snow makes the roads slippery.
    2. I don't think they should tell us that leaves make the road slippery.
    3. We all should know to wear coat when it's cold , get a life.
    4. Yes , we will take an umbrella if it is raining .
    5. Yes we all know to clean the ice off our windshields.
    6. We all know to lock our doors at the mall and elsewhere.
To make a long story short , tell the WEATHER , temp. etc.., do you really think we are so stupid that we need addition information as I've mentioned?

as much as i agree with you regarding WBOC, i must say "yes" people ARE that stupid!

however... WBOC is wasting their time telling people what to do and should stop.

you know the old saying... you can't teach an old dog a new trick, and you can't teach a stupid dog anything!

  5. No they don't proof read and it would appear the word program they use does not have a spelling/grammar correction application either! That or the people writing their articles either don't know it has one or do not know how to use it, I gave up trying to read that "cat box liner" long ago, it was too difficult to re-read a sentence and un-scrabble what it was suppose to be saying!

  6. 6:22 yes, they do think we're that stupid. And the really scary part is that many are!

  7. OP is correct, the paper on Sunday had the Saturday schedule instead of Sunday. Only reason I still subscribe is so my wife has a TV schedule...this may be the last straw. Is TV Guide still published??

  11. In the Sussex Guide last week there was an ad for a 1954 Ford Skyliner with a "cotton metal kit". I assume they meant a continental kit. Another ad was for unused heating oil. If it were used it wouldn't exist.

  12. An obit was published by the Daily Times a few months ago for a young lady. As a prior proofreader/typesetter (1967-1980) for the Daily Times, I was so mad how they butchered that obit. The sentence structure and spelling were awful. I contacted the Daily Times, and was responded to and told they did not proofread obits anymore. They print in the paper exactly how they were written either by the family or funeral home. I was so upset for the family. I don't know what they are doing now or what they are using to publish the newspaper, but for sure they have owners and employees who do not take pride in their work, nor do they respect the consumers who pay their salaries. I said it then, and I will say it now. You Should Be Ashamed of yourselves.

  14. Yes, I bought the Sunday paper and did notice that the TV schedule was not correct. There is no reason that a paper should have made a mistake like that.

Also, regarding WBOC, I don't watch the early morning news anymore. It makes me sick to see the comedy skit that Jimmy and Lacey perform each morning. Those two would be so much better if they just gave the news without all of the comments and jokes. And now again, it seems like that on all of their news shows, all they want to do is ask for money for their "Bless our Children" campaign. They are such a joke of a news station.
