Do you support a curfew in Salisbury?

71 comments:

  1. Of course in is very important. All the little thugs will obey, just like they stay in school, don't do drugs, and never hold up the Farm store.

  2. Yes, makes perfect sense

  3. Of course not. This is a "free" country.

    1. NOT if you don't control your kids after dark.

    2. Plus, winter is just around for corner. Like my mom said, flies don't come out when it's cold.

    3. No man or woman should have to loose their freedoms and liberties because the actions of few. Everyone should be responsible for their own actions and their children until the child is deemed an adult.

    4. These are not "men and women", they are "boys and girls".

The Supreme Court has affirmed more than once, that "children" do not have full Constitutional protection. (Unless it's an illegal alien minor...of course).

That's why schools can search lockers and kids' personal belongings without a warrant or probable cause.

They don't have full protection but they're protected.

  4. Yes, as long as any punishment involves the parents/guardians.

    1. Agreed!!! Too bad that won't happen. Parents or lack of have zero accountability. This is just one more thing they won't have to deal with...making their children responsible!!!

  5. Absolutely not! There is no way a curfew is legal, with a few exceptions like after riots, natural disasters, etc.

  6. parents can't make their kids obey a curfew either. on't blame the parents when the states say they are of their own person at age 16.

  7. No. To waste our Police resources on chasing minors who will turn this into a game is ludicrous! Let the cops be cops and be out there walking and talking with the neighborhood.

    Duncan has no clue...

  8. 4:27 PM This is a 'free country' at the point that one has rights to exercise. Under 18 and you don't have those yet

  11. Absolutely not! This is a free country, the government should stay the hell out of our lives. That sounds like something a democrat came up with, they love big government.Proably that fairy mayor Ireton.

  12. I support razing all of Salisbury and starting again. Call it SBY2.0

  13. Yes, if it will help stem the number people children roaming the streets late at night getting into trouble, and yes if it will help reduce crime in all areas of this city. However it must be strictly enforced and the parents/guardians need to be held just as accountable as the children.

    1. Children shouldn't be roaming the streets at 9 10 11 at night lock up the parent.

  14. It really is a waste of time as the liberal Democratic police chief will never enforce it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes, I believe you would be able to pick out the gangs faster.

    ReplyDelete
  16. No. Horrible waste of time.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It will force bad parents to do their job and lower the crime rate....Yes do it !

  18. How about a Baltimore resident ban. All those migrating here from Baltimore are banned and sent back.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes, there should be a curfew, BUT, if the parents try to enforce it the kids will call social services and report them as bad parents. The police in this town are afraid of all of these thugs and just will not enforce anything, they are scared for their own safety. The way to get rid of some of this is to NOT let anyone in a place of business with a Hoodie on. Just look at the pictures posted, they all have one on!!

  20. No curfew,to many laws and losing to many rights as it is.

    ReplyDelete

  21. Yes, to a curfew in Salisbury.

    ReplyDelete
  22. No, enforcement would be a nightmare and would create more time for officers in court, hold the parents responsible. Of course, most are single mothers...

    ReplyDelete
  23. no--you're kidding right?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I say yes to under 16. Parents of child on second violation should be charged. Find the funds in the long run it saves man power. The question will be what to do with frequent offenders. You cant house them.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Teens are assaulting our elderly they don't belong on the street...Yes Curfew

    ReplyDelete
  26. it's absolutely ludicrous that this is even being considered.

Last thinking person out, turn out the lights.

  27. I am out working overnight every night and it shocks me what I see. First I never see the police outside of their cars except that they are inside the conv. stores now and then. Other than that they are parked in certain places watching the cars go by. The one thing that could change things would be the police on foot patrolling the neighborhoods. I know this would mean hiring more officers and that would cost a lot of money, but the city absolutely waste's enough to afford more police. It would allow people in the community's to get to know the police on a more personal level and then maybe the people would give the police tips on who is responsible for crimes in their local area. I don't think a curfew could be in-forced and what to do with those who are caught!? Citizens should get more involved and not be afraid to report suspicious activities.

    1. Why pay for more police. These dam parents need to take care of and supervise their own dam kids. Hell, my mom took care of us while faddy work. These single parent household create this problem. Kids today are bad as hell on all ethnic background. A curfew shluld be enforce on kids 18 years and younger. Of this group is out after curfew, they should be out with their own parent(s).

  28. A curfew will be enforced unjustly just like every other law on the books. You will not stop the worst crimes in Salisbury with a curfew, you will only have a bunch of poor night shift workers who walk to work getting constantly harassed by the losers on SBYPD. Look at all the armed bank and convenience store hold ups that happen in broad daylight.

    ReplyDelete
  29. It would be impossible. Unconstitutional to ones right to travel free and unmolested. Be hard to enact one on people who are 16 and under. To stop a person who looks 16 but is 18 is a violation of rights in its self. Profiling by defenition.

    ReplyDelete
  30. YES, and arrest the curfew breakers, and make them do time!

    ReplyDelete
  31. All of you nay sayers should crawl into a hole , I say yes yes yes , get these hoodies off the street , what is there to do for young people on the streets after dark? Steal , drugs , assaults etc. .
The government can't do anything with these people , the families encourage it . They are practicing for their income when they become adults , that would be never.

    1. Agree. Not only should them hoodies be removed off the streets during curfew their booties should too.

  32. Yes -- for Ireton and Day.

  33. No child should be out after datk during a school night unless on there own property.

  34. Curfews stop crime, if Traven Martin wasn't out after dark peeking in windows and lurking in bushes he would still be alive.

  35. I support it, but when there is so many parents that don't care what their offspring do, it won't work.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, if implemented correctly and clearly. And enforced strictly.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Fine the parents ,yes.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I support a curfew for ages 17 and under only! Legally you are an adult at 18, you can join the military and fight for your country. Adults should be able to make their own decisions on how late they stay out at night. Curfew for minors under 18 only.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree. Also, at 18 they are held accountable for their actions and crimes, as an adult, if caught. At 17 or less, they rarely face any consequences for their behwvior.

  39. Curfew for under 18 thugs.

    ReplyDelete
  40. No. Majority of juvenile crime are committed right after school and before curfew would be enforced. Waste of time.

    ReplyDelete
  41. How about a survey on allowing Maryland law abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons like 44 other states?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes thought it was to have been implemented in Spring, then Summer the sooner would be best.

    ReplyDelete
  43. lol... no that would never work, not here and not anywhere. it would cause more harm then good.

    ReplyDelete
  44. they implemented a curfew here in the 70's when we had a serial child killer on the loose and it was just fine...A curfew to keep thugs off the streets would be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  45. It opens up law suits. Kids who are of age but look young will be engaged by police. To engage an 18 yr old who looks 15 is unconstitutional and a violation of ones rights. There would be no way to enact a curfew without opening a can of creamed crap. Period. All of you are speaking from personal feelings and ready to wipe your asses with our Constitution in the same breath. All you people who say yes are as much a part of societies problems as the supposed thugs you speak of.

    ReplyDelete
  46. They can stop and question anyone if they think they're violating the law.
You need to think about what's best for the public and not a few midgets that might be inconvenienced.

    ReplyDelete
  47. It won't work with as many unmarked cars as there are in our area.Virtually anyone with a car similar to those driven by local police agencies could instruct children to get into their car & "go down to the station".After that we'd have another abducted child. There is absolutely no way around that unless every police car has police markings, and we all know that police cannot work effectively without unmarked vehicles. For that reason I am against a curfew.
