Hamburgers or Minimum Wage

Puts things in perspective.

For those fast food employees striking for $15 an hour, let's do some math. At $15 an hour , Johnny Fry-Boy would make $31,200 annually. An E1 (Private) in the military makes $18,378. An E5 (Sergeant) with 8 years of service only makes $35,067 annually.

So you're telling me, LaTisha McBurgerflipper, that you deserve as much as those kids getting shot at, deploying for months in hostile environments, and putting their collective asses on the line every day protecting your unskilled butt!?

Here's the deal, Baconator, you are working in a job designed for a kid in high school who is learning how to work and earning enough for gas, and hanging out with their equally goofy high school pals. If you have chosen this as your life long profession, you have failed. If you don't want minimum wage, don't have minimum skills.

  2. The answer isn't to pay LaTisha McBurgerflipper less, it's that we should be paying Private Pyle more.

Also, isn't it the case that the Private has meals and housing paid for? It was when I was in the service. That puts his/her total compensation considerably higher than $15 a hour.

  4. I call bs on this one. Mr burger flipper has to only work maybe 8 hours a day. those boys and girls in the military are on duty 24/7/365. So they are making about a $1 an hour.

  7. Educate yourself and have the drive to succeed. That's all it takes. Handouts are for those that CAN'T do for themselves NOT for those that WON'T do for themselves.

  10. Is this article really comparing people who kill for a living with those who make lunch?

The corporations who benefit from the soldiers' efforts should pay for the soldiers' illnesses and injuries. Stop asking us to pony up more money to take care of the soldiers. They should be taken care of by the people who benefit from their work - the corporations like Exxon, Dupont, Monsanto, etc
