National Distracted Driver Awareness Month (Berlin Barrack Press Release)

National Distracted Driver Awareness Month

Troopers of the Maryland State Police will be joining this effort over the next 30 days. The Maryland State Police will focus efforts on the key laws in Maryland which are in place to reduce crashes based on distracted drivers.

The U.S. Department of Transportation is leading the effort to stop texting and cell phone use behind the wheel. Since 2009, The Department of Transportation has held 2 distracted driving summits, banned texting and cell phone use for commercial drivers, encouraged states to adopt tough laws, and launched several campaigns to raise public awareness about the issue.

Distraction.gov is your resource for learning more about distracted driving. Get the facts, get involved, and help keep America's roadways safe.

  1. WTF ? You will be pulling people over for talking to other passengers ?

There isn't any sort of law against that.

You look for people taking on hand held phones & texting other than that if its not against the law then you have no right to pull me over.

Sounds like this is just an excuse to have a full month of cops pulling people over without any probable cause.

  2. When the police stop all of these activities (and a few more) when driving, so will I.

  3. Hellooooooo Gestapo.
    Talking to passengers?
    Changing the radio station?
Where all the "if you aren't doing anything wrong, then why worry" goofs?
I think you better START to worry.
Criminalizing ("cashing in" is the proper term) these behaviors is a sign that they are not getting the revenues from the ticky-tac crap they've been hounding "we, the people" over.
How can any cop still have self-respect after he pulls you over (get ready for the "any drugs? weapons? mind if I search?") for talking in your car.
Are you at least BEGINNING to see that it's NOT so much about serving and protecting as it is about generating revenue and conditioning the population to believe that some strangers with guns (not afraid to use 'em either) get to "monitor" them and worse, FINE you for such stupid and idiotic reasoning.
"Mr. Johns, I saw you eating that Egg McMuffin. That's going to be a $60 fine and by the way, got any drugs or weapons in the car?"
THIS is supposed to be a dangerous job?
They are just one step above the lunch lady slapping your hand for trying to get TWO muffins.
In their case however, you could get KILLED over that muffin.
Does your insurance go up after being ticketed for TALKING???
    Seig Heil, Beeatches!!!
    Keep cheering!

  4. That is a list of what they consider to be distracting to drivers. NOT a list of what you could be cited for.

Calm down. Eat a muffin or something

  5. Wrong again 2:58-it is a list of excuses to harass and steal everything they can steal from the working people in this country. To quote Imclain-keep cheering you fool and have some more koolaid.

  6. Distracted driving ticket is similar to not obeying a lawful order, it is what ever they, the police, want to make out to be.I have asked this before on here and will ask again since no one seems to be able to answer it what is or is not a 'lawfull order' from the police. And now what is not distracted drivin? Would reading a billboard on the side of the highway be distracted driving, you certainly are not watching the road? Outlaw roadside signs they distract drivers! Is this going to be the liberals challenge when they have outlawed talking in your car, or maybe just before?

  10. I guess you can't even pass gas if it requires you to lean a bit. This is nuts.

  11. Debate the FACTS.
"We the people" didn't make this list up --- the POLICE did.
That makes them look more than stupid in the eyes of regular law-abiding citizens who have been eating, drinking, talking, tuning the radio and turning around to talk to their kid in the back seat for DECADES with NO PROBLEM.
Now, the police, in their ever increasing reach for our MONEY, tell us we are dangerous (!) and must be pulled over, questioned, and searched (and yeah, there ARE going to be searches). And when did cops NOT bother anyone over any "violation"? Black people, get ready for some searches over a bag of french fries ---and you KNOW that's coming.
ONLY cops think they are doing us a "service". Revenue enhancers with a badge.
The rest of us think "Gestapo" and "how much will it cost".

The answer to the second questions is "eventually, EVERYTHING".
    Keep cheering

  12. Now you see the list of offenses, so foreknowledge is being forewarned... I think that's how it goes???? Anyway, don't do those things and you are GOOD!!!!
