The NRA Wins Again on Armor-piercing Bullets, But Common Sense Was Already Lost

A week before the ATF was going to stop receiving public comments about its proposal to ban so-called 'armor-piercing' ammo the agency shut down the whole process, announced they were going back to the drawing board and, at some later date not specified, would revisit the whole issue again. The ATF received more than 80,000 emails and if you think some of them came from the International Bible Holiness Movement or another of the frontline anti-gun violence groups, think again.

And if you don't believe the NRA isn't celebrating, you're wrong on that one, too. They immediately posted victory statements from Wayne and Chris, sent news releases out to ever-welcoming Fox which featured their next President, Rand Paul, speaking out against the ATF, and of course went out of their way to label the ATF decision as a "defeat" of their arch-enemy and all-time best gun salesman, a.k.a. Barack.

Any time the gunnies can push back the U.S. Government on a gun issue, they'll celebrate their victory as yet another step towards enshrining the 2nd Amendment as the unquestioned law of the land. By the same token, the gun-sense folks will bemoan yet another defeat at the hands of a seemingly all-powerful NRA and try to figure out how to keep this embarrassing loss from happening again.

  2. The Second Amendment IS the unquestioned law of the land, precisely as intended by the framers of the Constitution! Anyone who fails to understand this concept is shamefully unschooled in history, particularly the writings of Jefferson, Washington, Madison and Jay. Furthermore, anyone who is knowledgeable of history who opposes 2A rights simply desires to convey unfettered power to an increasingly authoritarian government. For liberals whose reality is framed by their ideology, please consider the following quote from a rather famous person: "This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!"
~Adolph Hitler, 1935, on The Weapons Act of Nazi Germany

    Get the point? Probably not.

  3. this ammo has been around for years. there is not one case of it ever being used to penetrate a bullet proof vest.

  4. article if from liberal rag huff post.
no need to try and convince those mouth breathers otherwise.
they are to-the-death liberals and will forever try to take away our 2A rights.
no amount of rationalizing will do, they can only be stopped by neutralizing their votes with 10 of ours to every one of theirs.

  5. The entire effort is ridiculous. They assert that they would like to ban the ammunition because it will penetrate a bullet proof vest. Lets break it down to a common sence level. They are not bullet proof vests. They are ballistic vests. Ballistic vests resist blunt trauma. Most ballistic vests only stop handgun ammunition because handgun ammunition has a blunt tip and the velocity is much lower than rifle ammunition. Most rifle ammunition, including, 30-06, .308, .223, .243, .270, 7 mm, 6.8, 6.5, 7.62 x 39, 7.62 x 54 (just to name a few) will all penetrate soft body "armor" or ballistic vests. Some ballistic vests have a steel or ceramic plate in front of the kevlar panel which will stop some of these rifle rounds but most officers don't have those plates issued to them because they are heavy and very expensive. The steel plates also tend to shatter the projectiles and deflect them through the chin into the head. The idea of outlawing one typd of round was designed to do one thing - lay the groundwork and set the precedent to outlaw any other round that they determine will penetrate body "armor ". This was an attempt to educate those among us who may not be aware of the propaganda the ATF is trying to spread to justify their actions.

  6. Imagine losing our right to defend ourselves, and all guns turned in.

Now imagine the rest of our rights. How will you protect them? How will you keep Homeland Security at bay? How will you keep the government from ransacking your house? car? Taking away your children for the Army?

All the other rights become null and void including speech and religion after this.

Then, the U.S. is over quickly.

And, there's no place left on earth left to go...
