THE OSCARS ARE RACIST?

YES … AND IT’S AN “EMERGENCY”

We wrote a column this week addressing the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in which we opined that “the civil rights movement in America ain’t what it used to be.”

Little did we know how perfectly one of the contemporary movement’s “leaders” would validate our conclusion. We’re referring of course to Al Sharpton, the black leader who among other ludicrous suppositions believes racism is to blame for his inability to pay his taxes.

Anyway, in his latest attempt to foment misplaced outrage Sharpton has turned his attention to Hollywood.

Specifically, the not-so-good “Reverend” is livid that the Oprah Winfrey movie “Selma” – a biopic of the life and times of King – did not receive Oscar nominations in the categories of “Best Actor” and “Best Director” from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The movie was nominated for “Best Picture” (which it will probably now win as a result of this outcry), but that wasn’t good enough for Sharpton.

  1. Please refer Mr. Sharpton to the racist NBA and NFL. Thank you.

  3. Remember last year when African Americans were nominated in every major category? Guess racism in Hollywood wasn't in effect then.

  4. I have officially quit watching the Oscars because the winners are rarely the biggest box office draws. The academy could care less about popular opinion even though ticket buying keeps the motion picture industry alive."The Hurt locker" was a decent movie, but not even close to "Avatar" The Hurt Locker won Best Picture that year of course.

  6. 2:23 why? They are both lairs! The so called "Doctor", didn't even write his on papers, it has been found out and revealed he plagiarized his papers! King also was a frequent visitors of Prostitutes, and it wasn't to save their souls. Then there is his statement about how Jesus didn't arise after 3 days and is not the blessed son of God! Ya, some roll model!! Get your head out of your a$$ !!!

  10. I ran into a black man that I once worked with the other day and asked him about the subject of the "good reverend" at which time he said that he didn't represent anything that he believe in. Let us not let one man spoil the efforts of many in this situation. It is sad that the people who scream the loudest and have the biggest mouths get the most attention in this world when decent folks are out there living a good life and raising decent families. I really with the man would just retire. His only claim to fame is the color of his skin.

    so like our own lives:
so thin and yet so full of life,
so noiseless when it labors hardest,
so noisy and impatient when least effective."
