Six Weeks Paid Leave Act

House Democrats hold a press conference today to reintroduce the Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act. The bill would give federal employees six weeks of paid leave when they give birth or adopt a child. President Barack Obama called for the legislation in his State of the Union address last week. He already has issued an executive order to the same effect. Local sponsors of the bill include Reps. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.).

  1. These dumbocrats have no idea of the business impact of this act.

Here's where equal pay for equal work should get some teeth.... If you're taking this kind of time off - you're not working...and shouldn't get paid....!

  3. 10:22 it has nothing to do with private business's, it is for Federal Employees.

    And you are ridiculous.

People have children, and it is equal, men as well as women are entitled to take time off. Even in the family leave act it states as such.

We have lives, other than working for pennies while you make big $$ for yourself. We should not have to worry about being homeless and losing our jobs because some falls seriously ill or we start a family. You come across as just another sby slave labor employer. "Its all about me" is your motto.

If you did a bit of research, you will find the USA seriously lags in such perks as vacation, sick, family and medical leaves compared to other countries.

And what a joke, equal pay should get some teeth?? Women are still on the short end of the stick on that one. And this policy applies to both genders - so your comment is total illogical.
