Mayor & Council Join Community in Celebration of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

On Thursday, January 8, 2015, the Mayor and City Council will join Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. (C.O.P.S.) and partnering organizations to support law enforcement officers nationwide in celebration of the first National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.). Before the nationwide event, the Town of Ocean City will honor local law enforcement agencies during a ceremony and presentation of a proclamation from the Mayor and City Council. We hope to see you there!

  1. Why not advertise ahead of time so people who wish to attend may do so?
    This is really short notice.

  3. Is that the same "PC Crowd" that wants to live their lives with some sense of dignity and is really only asking for the police to stop brutalizing the people they are supposed to be protecting? That PC crowd? Yeah because we are asking for so much.

  4. So two events that have received national attention by MSM mean that every police officer in the nation handles people without dignity and does not protect the people?

There is no brutality issue in Ocean City or the Eastern Shore that I am aware of. If you have information that states otherwise, please share it.

If you don't, then let's not equate issues that happened hundreds of miles away with our local community.

Those two events are horrible, and could have been handled differently, but in no way do they indicate that there is a brutality issue here or that police here treat anyone with dignity.

  5. Stupid typos. My last few lines should read "or that police here treat anyone WITHOUT dignity".

I think the local law enforcement community does an outstanding job.

  7. You were right the first time Chuck and you must live in a hole not to realize there is a severe police brutality issue here. (as well as a police murder issue)

  8. @11:23 had some problems with the poe poe before? I'm sure it was all poe poes fault and not yours. Let me guess...you were targeted while minding your own business. That about right? (sarcasm)

why is that the standard response when there is criticism of the police?

One has nothing to do with the other. Police either commit brutality or they do not. And in case after case, it appears they do so on a regular basis. Regardless if that is one's first contact with the PO PO or their 20th.

NOTHING gives police the right to brutalize anyone. They are however allowed to use enough force to effect an arrest, but that's it.

Not to continue beating someone while in back of a cruiser with handcuffs on, for example. Not kicking a woman in the head while she is sitting on a sidewalk, for example. Not shooting some guy in the back while he is laying prone on a subway platform with at least 4 other officers there, for example. Not giving a front kick to an elderly man as they walk towards each other, for example.

I could go on all day.

But, oh my God, let one of you get hurt or killed and you think the world should stop turning.

Nobody should be killed, but kops such as yourself refuse to realize it is YOUR ACTIONS that bring it on yourselves to begin with.

You are just bullies who have gotten away with too much for too long. And it has started to change. And I hope it continues to change, ( not necessarily the killing of cops), but the accountability and punishment of groups of bad kops, that you sound like you are a member of.

It is long overdue and will at least partially remove the bad effects you have on the GOOD cops.

I think they have carried your burden for long enough.
