Disgruntled Wet Seal Employees Post List Of Grievances

As seen in the Centre of Salisbury.

Employees are ticked off as the company shut down, apparently without notice.

  1. I'm really surprised the mall is still there, let alone any stores inside of it.

  2. Before the internet, these companies were getting away with this crap. Knowledge and communication is power.

  3. The mall charges way to much in rent and does not provide the foot traffic that justifies these insane prices.

Boardwalk Fries closed business due to the high rate for rent. They were paying over 6000 a month for their little corner.

I hear to have a Kiosk in the mall is also insanely over priced. As a result these stores need to charge high prices just to make rent and then they don't get the business because they are no longer competitive.

Bottom line is the mall does not draw in the crowds of customers like it used too and can't justify its insane demands on rent.

  4. Good! That mall is a waste of space and resources. The sooner it fails the better for the whole community.

  5. Won't be long before they tear it all down, except the theater, and put housing there. I see a mixed use development in it's place.

  6. @11:38 - Tell me, how is it a waste of resources? Also, I assume you don't care about the jobs of the 100s that work there. I certainly hope that the mall makes it. However, considering the trend it may not. But a waste of resources? Who's resources? Yours?

It takes up so much space, much of it completely unused (parking & drainage), and does not really fit in with the surrounding infrastructure. Why do you think the road network getting in and out of the mall is so absurd?

And I do care for the 100s of people who work there. But I bet that there will be enough jobs for them and then some if the site is properly redeveloped in the future.

Take a look at all the dying malls in the country. It's a clear trend. I hope Salisbury stays ahead of the curve this time.

  8. Imagine how big the rain tax bill will be for the mall! All that surface... oh wait.... Well, imagine how big the rain tax bill will be for SU and PRMC.... oh wait.

  9. the great thing about capitalism is these people can go make their own business. they lived by someone elses rules (worked for their company). if i owned a company again, i would tell my employees they were being let go, but that'd be a courtesy. theres no laws saying i give my people notice.

  10. The mall has made them take the sign down due to "bad publicity" to the mall. The company WET SEAL is what caused all of this madness. Complain to them, not the mall.

  11. I saw the sign last night

  12. Time for the employees to start their own entrepreneurial efforts. That is the only real shot left at the American dream anymore.

  15. Cut & dry. Wet Seal did wrong by its employees by not giving them any warning about the store's closing.... greedy corporation, who claims they think of their employees...

  16. and Salis was not the only location where they did this

  17. I feel bad for the employees that are now unemployed, that was dirty of Wet Seal. The reality of it all is..... that everyone is just a number, nobody cares about you, and the Presidents and Ceos only care about themselves and their wallets. Sad but true it's the way of the world these days.

  18. Did the employees receive a decent severance package? If so, nothing to complain about. If not, then yes, this sucks. And this was a corporate event. 338 stores to be closed - a loss of 3695 jobs.
