See How Quickly It Took Detroit’s Neighborhoods to Change in Then-and-Now Photos From Google Street View
2009
2013
Everyone knows the economic downturn drastically impacted Detroit, but few things can demonstrate what such a decline looks like than a comparison of Google Street View images over just the last few years.
Alex Alsup has been pulling together before-and-after images using Google Street View, which has the ability to search back to images taken in past years, and showcasing them on his Tumblr blog GooBing Detroit. Alsup has also used Bing’s street-view tool, a rival to Google’s, said on the blog he is only using Google’s product at the moment.
The common denominator without a doubt is Obama. Who got elected in 2008, the year before the first photo? Obama and the Democrats. Wake up you ignorant deadbeat Americans!!
Another common denominator is generations of democrat control. When they are in office this is what happens-always. There are no ifs ands or buts about it-democrat policies haven't ever worked, and will not ever work. Everything the democrats touch and have ever touched turns into a pile of rubbish.
6:39 At least it creates some jobs in Salisbury, have you seen the people on the highway holding the "going out of business , 50% off" signs? They are getting paid well!
5 years and a neighborhood can go down hill quick. We have a house on our street that has been vacant for almost 5 years and it doesn't look like this because the neighbors chip in so it won't look run down.
If you noticed most have been destroyed by fire , an easy insurance scam. Fire Marshalls don't give a crap about arson anymore , Wicomico County is the same.
I say Cambridge is a lot nicer. Went to dinner there and walked to my car without looking over my shoulder. I do know that they still have a core of people working together on the shape of the city. In Smallsbury it is either the Gillis' or some other crook getting sweet heart deals from the city. Just look at down town the only new build per se is the State's Attorney's Office.
Who got paid in that one. Oh yea another Gillis. Need I say more

Shame on the neighbors for bailing the deadbeat out.
Anonymous said... 11:45 We bailed out no one. We all help take care of the place so it won't end up looking like a dump. The deadbeat is long gone.

You are an idiot with that mentality. YOU did bail that deadbeat out. It's the city's responsibility to do something with that property not yours. What you did is like giving someone welfare.
10:04 When did I say anything about living in the city? What you did was assume.....and we all know what they say about people that assume. I hate to see what your home and neighborHOOD looks like.
You mention welfare? Sorry I refuse to wait around for the government to do something for me for free. Seems you are the one dependent on the government.....THAT is welfare.

ReplyDeleteIn the 2009 photo, the house on the far right was already burned out ... it's completely gone in the 2013 pic ...
ReplyDeleteLooks a lot like parts of Maryland, like Cambridge and Salisbury. Abandoned houses and record foreclosures. They wanted Change, well they got it!
ReplyDeleteIt's Obama's fault.
ReplyDeleteCould very well be Salisbuy in just a few years.

Do you think so? I don't. Both have deteriorated equally I think.
