Incident: Burglary

Date of Incident: 19 May 2014

Location: 600 block of Gunby Road, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 19 May 2014 at 11:06 PM deputies responded to the 600 block of Gunby Road for the report of a theft in progress. The first deputy to arrive attempted to stop a vehicle leaving the area with no headlights on. The deputy attempted to stop this vehicle which instead of stopping fled from the deputy at an ever increasing speed. The operator found himself trapped at the dead end on Colony Drive at which point he exited his vehicle and continued to flee on foot through a field. With the assistance of a WCSO K9, the suspect was located hiding amongst the tall grass in the field and apprehended.

The subject was identified as Derek A. Largent of Salisbury.

Investigation revealed that Largent had entered a garage and attempted to steal a power washer and a 125 CC Honda Motorcycle. Largent was positively identified as the culprit by the complainant who caught Largent in the act.

The deputy transported Largent to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Largent on a bond of $100,000.00 in this case.

Largent was currently awaiting trial stemming from two separate arrests on 8 May 2014 for two theft cases. Largent had been released pending trial in those cases.

Incident: Assault

Date of Incident: 20 May 2014

Location: 200 block of Clover Street, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Harry Dean Morris IV, 24, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 20 May 2014 at 5:20 PM a deputy arrested Harry Morris in connection with an assault he reportedly committed on 11 May 2014. In this incident, Morris reportedly punched another subject in the face and the continued to hit that subject while on the ground. Morris reportedly ceased the assault after he realized the Sheriff’s Office had been called.

Morris was gone upon arrival and an arrest warrant was obtained.

Upon arrest Morris was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Morris in the Detention Center in lieu of $20,000.00 bond.

Charges: Assault 2nd Degree

Incident: Burglary / Vandalism

Date of Incident: 21 May 2014

Location: 3000 block of Jesterville Road, Bivalve, MD

Suspect: Carinthia Ann Jackson, 51, Bivalve, MD

Narrative: On 21 May 2014 at 7:43 PM a deputy responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Jesterville Road for the report of a subject breaking windows out of a residence in what appeared to be an attempt to enter the residence. Upon arrival, the deputy located a subject that would be identified as Carinthia Jackson lying in the street in front of the residence in question. Upon contact with Jackson the deputy detected what was described as an overwhelming odor of alcohol.

The deputy learned that Jackson reportedly broke out seven different windows before attempting to smash a windshield out of a car on the property. Jackson reportedly used a paver, a pair of pliers, a garden sprinkler and a log at different times in an effort to accomplish her task. When Jackson switched to the vehicle, at one point she was using a patio chair to try and break the windshield.

At one point, Jackson reportedly attempted to enter the residence through one of the windows she broke out. Jackson told the deputy that “her man” was in that house.

The deputy arrested Jackson and transported her to the Central Booking Unit where she was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Jackson in the Detention Center in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.

Charges: Attempted Burglary

  3. Wow , That house is a local stop for cops. He went to jail not to long ago. He works for a plumbing Co. and she works on her back mostly.

  5. Again another great week by the deputies of the Sheriff's Office. Keep up the great effort to keep our county safe. All the officers in this community do a great job. We really need a county police force. I will say most of them I have met out and about are polite and professional. Joe thanks for keeping us old folks informed.
