  4. I saw it right away: CIVILETTI, BENJAMIN HUFF, the son of the United States Attorney General, Benjamin Civiletti, under Carter. (What...? Is everyone here under 30 or something to not recognize that name?) :-)

  5. Civiletti the elder served as Jimmy Carter's Attorney General.

  7. Why is this newsworthy? Civilettie hasn't held public office in 30 years.

  8. Father Civiletti had some appointment or something to do with the omalley admin. Maybe still does. The specifics escape me but I'm positive I've heard his name tossed in the mix as heading up or advising on some committee or the likes.

  9. Found it on Wiki------"On July 10, 2008, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley announced that Civiletti would serve as the chairman of the Maryland Commission on Capital Punishment, set up to study the application of capital punishment in Maryland and make a recommendation on the abolition of the death penalty in Maryland. On November 12, 2008, the Commission voted 13-7, with Civiletti voting with the majority, to recommend that the Maryland General Assembly abolish capital punishment in the state."

It's newsworthy because he's the son of the man that was top law enforcement officer in the United States. It's newsworthy because we would all like to see what will happen to someone - someone that is in a situation that costs 'regular' citizens a ton of expense and trouble - someone that is surely heavily connected to law enforcement.
It's also winter time at the shore... What the hell else is there to do?

  12. We should just take the word 'honor' and remove it from our languages.
