HARVARD PROF: TEA PARTY NOT GOING ANYWHERE, MORE LIKELY TO WIN

A government and sociology professor at Harvard writes that the Tea Party is more likely than not to "win in the end" in an age when Americans are becoming more removed from Washington and distrusting the federal government and their elected officials.

"Tea Party forces will still win in the end," Theda Skocpol writes, unless moderate Republicans can defeat them. Skocpol concedes that the Tea Party "will triumph just by hanging on long enough" as Americans are getting fed up by "our blatantly manipulated democracy and our permanently hobbled government."

The article, "Why The Tea Party Isn't Going Anywhere," was first published in the journalDemocracy, and later reprinted in The Atlantic.

  2. A bit too far to the right, but the best thing we'll have come election time. The Tea Party movement will need to learn to compromise just a bit because the system is way to broken to be whipped into shape in one term.Still hands down the best option any of us have.

  3. lol, "fed up by "our blatantly manipulated democracy"

As if the TP's aren't similarly manipulated. In fact, I would say the pols are playing them even worse.

  4. I agree 11:18. System is way too broken. Tea Party has the right idea but I think we need more people who are not career politicians - a little bit of experience being ok. Just not a career.

Anyone to wants to abide by our Constitution and can prove they mean it has my vote.

  5. think about this for a moment. "back in the day" and not so long ago, the TP was the NORM. amazing what the manipulation of our children through government schools and the "lap dog" news media has done to the general population.

the fight for this nation through the progressives has been going on for over 100 years. the battle will never stop, but we must be more vigilant if we are to survive as the Republic our founders had in mind.

    God speed...

  6. I'm glad more people are coming to the realization that our false, two party system just represents two hands of the same monster. It utterly destroys their perception of reality, and unfortunately it's one of those things that requires each person to figure it out for themselves.

Those leading the way with their involvement with the TP need to be vigilant to ensure the movement is not manipulated and co-opted. It's already happened several places. If the movement stays pure to the stated ideals, I have no doubt that it will be successful.

  7. I can understand everyone's skepticism, but if they have been paying attention to what the TP actually stand for and have done and trying to do, they would see they are by far the best choice for our republic, and our constitution.

Just like Fox news everyone likes to pick on, they have been proven right more times than not.

Or you can keep believing the lies and liars. Look how far that has gotten us.

  8. The fact that both republicans and democrats are against them is enough for me to like them. I just wish people would keep all this religious stuff private like Jesus wanted us to.

  10. 3:47, Jesus walked the land visiting many different towns to spread the word. I never remember reading about Him keeping the Word to Himself.

    Maybe you could enlighten us?

I am not 347, but I will enlighten you. What Jesus said was to keep the praying private, not the gospel. Maybe that is what 347 meant. An easy internet search, or bible reading, will go far in understanding the truth.

    The Lord's Prayer
5"When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 6"But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. 7"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.…
