Maryland Says It Has 326 Enrollees in Health Exchange

The state of Maryland says it has thousands of people interested in buying health insurance on its new state-run exchange, but only 326 so far have actually enrolled in new coverage.

That number is one of the few trickling out about enrollment in the new health-insurance exchanges created by the 2010 Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. The federal government, which is operating exchanges on behalf of 36 states, hasn’t given enrollment numbers yet for its HealthCare.gov exchange, which, as The Wall Street Journal reported today, has been plagued by design and software problems.

  2. So it appears us suckers who work and pay taxes and have insurance will now still be paying for the freeloaders but also the inefficient buracracy of our government burdens with additional overhead and insurance companies profit margins

  3. The "affordable care act" was written by the insurance companies with company bonuses and costs for paperwork processing. It's a scam to centralize and consolidate health insurance providers down to a few large firms to corner the market with guaranteed government cash on my back once again. There are only 326 people that signed up because the crap is too expensive! People are just pissed and will pay the penalty about to be direct debited from their account. $95 next year if you make less than $9,500 If you make more than that a year that 2.5% will add up quick. Penalty up to $695 per person in 2016 just in time for Obama to bounce on his new book tour. Everyone who already had insurance has watched their premiums jack up and in most cases double in the last three years. And guess who's stock has shown ridiculous gains in the same time frame? The big boy health insurance companies. And guess who owns most of these companies? The good ole banks.

  6. It's utterly absurd to think this would ever work. Unless healthcare is completely denied to people without insurance only are few are going to buy it. The rest will pay the fine.
Leave it to fools like obama, omalley and the rest of the democratic ilk to get all jazzed up over something that completely defies not only intelligence but common sense.

  8. democrats are nothing but a pathetically ignorant lot. Only someone with an IQ down in the idiot range would ever have believed this would be a success. The irresponsible who this is geared towards are never going to sign up-NEVER.
Those who do sign up are going to get 3 or 4 months into paying premiums and say 'screw this.'
Time to send every single democrat packing.

  9. None of the 326 have been approved because their eligibility has not been determined, therefore they do not have a signed contract for Obamacare.

  10. Who cares about eligibility?? Just lie because it's the "honor system" with nothing but a bunch of communist democrats as overseers of a corrupt, inoperable and totally impotent system. Our tax dollars wasted because the human garbage we call a president decided to give freeloaders and criminals something that everybody else has got to work for and earn. Have we had enough yet????
