‘Barrycades’ Torn Down, Dumped At White House

'Obama, you can't call on the SEALs because the SEALs are already there'

Thousands of Americans have taken the government shutdown into their own hands, literally, as they stormed into the nation’s capital, tearing down barricades blocking off the World War II Memorial on the National Mall Sunday morning.

“Barrycades are down,” tweeted Sherry Lucas, a reference to President Barack Obama’s childhood nickname of Barry.

Many of the barricades were then hand-carried by the protesters and dumped in front of the White House.

  3. Back from who 10:30? This entire event was a charade. Some (very few) of the people there were actually veterans, the rest were nutbag teabaggers and racist.

  4. With all respect to WWII vets (my father served in the Pacific from 1942 till the end of the war): Was this memorial mobbed BEFORE the shutdown? Will it be mobbed again when the shutdown is over? I'm with 11:10 AM. This is just a big "screw you" to the President, and my dad would have been among the first to recognize it as such.

  6. 11:10 Yeah right you troll.
The real charade was allowing ILLEGAL aliens to assemble on the "closed" National mall.

  7. I saw video of a half mile line 2 and 3 abreast carrying the barricades to throw down at the WH. That's got to amount to almost a thousand. And there were definitely vets in the crowd. BTW so what if TEA party people were also participating? Those monuments belong to all of us, not just certain people or groups! And for the WH to spend that much money on personnel when NONE was spent before the "shutdown", which is now a "ramp up", is an insult to us all.

I wrote the following to my Senators and Congressman this morning, and suggest you all do the same. Just copy and paste the following.

The Obama administration is spending more money than it ever has in an effort to barricade the WW2 Memorial during the Shutdown. This Memorial was never staffed and never littered and belongs to us, the People of the United States, not the Government. Exactly what are you doing to protect the rights of WW2 veterans and their families to stop this violation of rights?

And both of you are wrong. And I doubt very much you speak for your father.

He served, you didn't. He had a bond with these men, you don't.

Don't sully his name to try to make your mistaken assumption bear any weight.

You and 1110 are part of what's wrong with this country. People are standing up to correct a wrong and you two lie and put them down.

I pray someday your eyes will be opened.

  9. I'm with you 5:25. No, I'm not a veteran but the love of my life was a Vietnam vet and I saw first hand the torment in his soul, not only for Vietnam, but for the way he was treated here when he returned. I have been to the monuments many times and I am still humbled and thankful when I go. Those men and women fought and died for the right to go to the monuments ANY TIME THEY WANT TO GO!

I've stood at The Wall and watched grown men cry as they traced buddies names that are etched there. This is not something that is just "over" for them. I also watched on Sunday as veterans with no legs helped carry those barriers to the White House. I watched on any feed that I could find open and you can bet there were not many that carried it. Main stream media certainly didn't carry it, not until late Sunday night, when they to tried to make it out to be a Tea Party event.

And I never saw the first racist thing said. I did notice there were not many blacks there. I don't know why as I know there are a lot of black veterans, but I really don't know where you are getting that racist stuff from.

Thank you to all the veterans. The ones who went Sunday and the ones who didn't, because when it really counted--you went. Thank you!

  10. What do you suppose Barry Cade himself thinks of how his name is being used?

I don't think very many care what he thinks, I certainly do not.

And actually, barrycade is a much nicer term than what most call him.
