Attempted Mugging At WorWic Last Night

Last night a student who had recently moved back to the area was attempting to get into his car to leave after class when an African American male confronted him just after he sat down in his vehicle.

The suspect pulled the victim out of his vehicle and struck him in the back with a metal bar. A fight broke out in which the student was able to take the bar away from the suspect and cracked him in the head with it. He wrestled the suspect to the ground and another student was able to call the Police.

We're told while this happened Security watched but did nothing.

The PUBLIC needs to be aware of just what is truly going on in our communities. I have been told by so many people that Salisbury News exposes too much negative information. I have been told that whenever you Google Salisbury or Wicomico County, Salisbury News comes up first and people see the negativity, AS IF THIS IS MY FAULT!

Even during my campaign for Mayor I had been asked numerous times to calm things down and we even lost advertisers because I refused to do so. The Chamber of Commerce was NOT at all thrilled with me as well because I have always felt, this is why I started Salisbury News.

Without getting too long winded, 9 years ago we started reporting crime in Salisbury and everyone commented, where did all this crime come from. It was always there. The difference being, crime doesn't sell papers, (so to speak). The public was not aware that things were so bad that Salisbury had actually been rated the 4th most dangerous city in America, per capita.

Because our viewers have been willing to pass on information you'll not normally see in press releases, Salisbury News has become the front runner throughout ALL of the local media. I love it when I see WBOC say, Delmarva's News Leader. That's a load of crap. WBOC would crap their pants if they had anywhere close to the local traffic Salisbury News receives on a daily basis. I don't even have to mention the Daily Times.

As this victim stated, let this message be a warning to this community, things are getting very bad. I'm sure there's a LOT more going on that never makes it to a press release.

  1. This kind of crap wouldnt happen if Maryland had more realiaric conceal carry laws. There is nothing in the constitution that says you have to have a "good and substantial reaaon" to exwrcise you 2nd amwndment rights. And whats up with security? Did they really just stand there? Someone should be fired.

  2. The crime exists witn or without the reporting. The fact that its reported gives citizens information they wouldnt otherwise have. Those that wiuld rather hide the truth from the citizens are part of the probkem.

  3. WWCC has cameras in its' parking lots- I'd like to see this footage. I don't doubt that it happened, people are crazy.

  4. I am a former student at Wor-Wic and it does not surprise me that security did nothing. In my time on that campus there were two fights in which other students had to get involved while security watched from a distance. Quite sad.

  6. THe local media Daily Times.. WBOC WDMT are a joke because they are no longer a watchdog for the public... but mouth pieces for the our useless corrupt politicans..democrat progressives...and the communist libtard agenda...most people see right thru the BS and anyone with half a brain is well aware of the problems the corrupt local good ole boy system has created here...the reason this blog is so successful??..you bring a valuable service to the community. something that has been lacking in local journalism for decades....MSM no longer protects the working class ...the real crooks are not on the streets but are behind our politicans who as usual... are thiefs worthless and weak... with no true sense of civic duty and the editors who spin out the real truth for a dollar instead of civic duty to expose the problems like Joe does..

  7. Crime got that way because the County's law enforcement leaders were drunks, in rehab, etc. You don't dig out from being number 4 in the nation for crime overnight. Shame on those who were in charge during the slide including chief jack and coke who I hope never gets a chance to ruin an agency again.

  8. I wonder if any of the other "news" outlets will report anything on this. Probably not.

  9. So aside from checking I.D. and writing parking tickets, security is a misnomer.

    Security Staff
Wor-Wic employs a staff of security officers who
patrol the campus facilities and grounds. Wor-Wic
security officers have the authority to ask persons for
identification to determine whether individuals have
lawful business at Wor-Wic Community College.
Wor-Wic security officers also have the authority to
issue parking and traffic citations which are billed to
financial accounts of students, faculty, and staff.
Wor-Wic security officers are not police officers and
as such do not possess arrest power. All criminal
incidents are therefore referred to the local police
who have jurisdiction on the campus. The Security
Office at Wor-Wic maintains a working relationship
with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and the
Maryland State Police but is in no way associated
    with these agencies.

  11. Keep up the good work, most appreciate it. Exposing corruption in government is what you are best at. Truth is the truth even if some don't like to believe it.

  12. It takes forever to check WBOC's website because it is so SLOW!! And don't go there for breaking news because they don't update things very quickly.

  13. Students defending them selves must stop. This is creating a non safe work environment for criminals. All must work for safety in the work place.

  14. Sadly the only time things are reported is when Salisbury News reports it. The only time it makes any other news is when there forced to by a homicide. Attempted murders and shots fired don't make the news, because they would need an hour newscast or they are controlled by their advertisers and politicians

  15. The only place to get the truth is here Joe. You won that election, we all know it. Those commie dems used computer tricks to make that gay man win.

  16. WOR-WIC is in the county, so WCSO or MSP would ave responded, if 911 was called.

Who are the Counties law enforcement leaders are you referring to?

  18. Sure would have been neat if the victim pulled out a gun and shot the perp. Security just stood there????? Probably out of shape and 80 years old. Oh well.

  19. The only thing the Daily Times is interested in is promoting Rick Pollitt and his liberal agenda. With Pat Peterson on the board he has the help he needs to keep that going.

  20. I don't doubt that WCSO or MSP would have responded if called but what good would it have done? Was the mugger supposed to wait while the victim used his cell phone? When seconds count the police are minutes away.

  21. I know for a fact my neighbors were robbed at gun point in Brew Rivers parking lot after they had dinner last month. They said a young black male pointed a sawed off shot gun at them and demanded money. Why no news of this. Why no warning by Salisbury Police.

The police have eveidence yet they have not called the victims back. It was 730 at night what the hell is going on in this city. Brew River needs to invest in security. The police need to call people back. The public needs to know not to go there !!!!!!!! I am darn angry.

What do you expect, Brew River is in a ghetto. Guess what I have never been robbed at gun point at Brew River and never will. That is because I don't frequent establishments in the ghetto.
