Two Arrested In Connection With Sussex County Burglaries

Defendants, Charges, and Bail Information:
Christopher J. Stoe, 28, of Laurel, DE (white male in black shirt)
147 Charges Including Burglary Second, Burglary Third, and Theft of a Firearm

James E. Passwaters, 28, of Bridgeville, DE (white male with beard and blue shirt)
138 Charges Including Burglary Second, Burglary Third, and Theft of a Firearm 
Committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on $40,200 secured bail.

Sussex County – Two men are incarcerated after Troop 4 burglary detectives were able to link them to numerous residential burglaries in western Sussex County.

Troopers had been investigating several daytime residential burglaries in western Sussex County since May 2013. During these burglaries electronics, firearms, jewelry, and cash were taken. Evidence recovered at the scene of one burglary resulted in detectives obtaining an arrest warrant for Christopher J. Stoe, 28, of Laurel. Stoe was apprehended on August 12.

After Stoe was arrested detectives were able to link him to more than forty burglaries, some dating from 2012. Detectives learned that in many of these burglaries he was driven to and from the scene by James E. Passwaters, 28, of Bridgeville. Passwaters was arrested on August 19.

Stoe has been charged with 147 offenses related to the burglaries, and is being held at Sussex Correctional Institute on $216,000 secured bail. Detectives have charged Passwaters with 138 offenses, and he is being held at Sussex Correctional Institute on $40,200 secured bail. This investigation is ongoing and more charges are anticipated.
