Hey Joe - Salisbury Is A "Best City"

Good afternoon, Joe, hope you're doing well.I'm writing to share some news about Salisbury ranking in the Top Best Cities nationwide.
Salisbury outranked 300 other areas and cities to be #7 in ValuePenguin's report on the "Best Cities for Doctors" to work. I thought this would be an informative and unique hyperlink to share with your audience. Let me know if you have any questions.

  1. What I find interesting is the cost of living index in Salisbury. Very high for one of the poorest areas in the country.

  2. I have a question, why flaunt illegitimate awards and rankings? The proof is in the pudding. Sorry Charlie.

  3. Yet I hear that PRMC has difficulty recruiting because of conditions here- school quality, crime, appearance of the area around the hospital, etc.

  4. If you read the article yes, it has BEST SALARY?$$$$$ for doctors/$$$$$$
FACT- It is good to be a doctor or general practitioner or specialist AND work as one in Salisbury.

  5. Right. The area is populated with a surplus of senior citizens & 1 doctor can run them through his assembly line 5 or 6 at a time using "certified" assistants. I am sure Drug and "lab" companies also contribute substantially to their income.

  6. It might be great to be a doctor but as far as Salisbury being great that is a joke as long as you have liberals running things Salisbury will never thrive to be up scale. Joe would have made Salisbury businesses feel welcomed and provide jobs and want to bring high end retail to Salisbury. But it was their election to loose. All those idiots who voted to put the homo back in office.

  7. yeah cause all doctors care about is money they don't mind no cultural venues other eating muskrat at the local firehouse. and they surely don't want good schools for their kids cause they only want to raise retards. As for shopping boscovs is the best everyone knows that! and heavens forbid they actually want to go to a great restaurant that ain't a chain. After about a week you'll have seen them all! yup great place to be if your an educatd person!

  9. What I don't understand on this blog is why there are so many negative people. If you don't like the area - move. If you don't like the amount of money you make - do something about it - get an education, start your own business, get a different job.

  13. 3:08: Maybe it's more the fact that some of the negative people just think it's sad that Salisbury is such a dismal city when it has SO much potential. The waterfront is a diamond in the rough. Revitalize that area - throw in an IMAX Theater and some first-class chains - and Salisbury could and would become a destination, not just the town you bypass on your way to and from the beach.

  14. If Salisbury is that good , it tells me the rest of the country sucks big time.

  15. 3:08 Thats exactly what I did and it turned out better than I could of imagined. Lived there for 40 years. I highly reccomend it to everyone. For the life of me I don't understand why Joe stays there. The money he has, his good business sense, the amount of hatred towards him.

If you are going to spout off about being educated you would know it is a great place to be if YOU'RE an educated person! Grammar is a gift, use it!!!

  17. 308-My entire family left the shore. Improved their lives dramatically. The proof is in the pudding. Look around, the Shore is nothing to be proud of. No quality jobs, substandard public schools, overpriced colleges, overpriced housing, higher than the national cancer rates, and heavy Maryland taxation. What's there to cheer about? PRMC? hahahahaha the joke's on you!!

  19. It's all in your perception of a place. I have co-workers who moved down here from outside Philly & the Baltimore area. They think it costs a lot less to live here. Locals complain about the traffic & the newbies say we have no traffic. We think it's a long way if it takes 15-20 min. to go across town. Newcomers think that's a quick trip. It depends what areas you are comparing.

  20. 6:13 It does cost less to live in Salisbury. Your new neighbors moved from an area making more money and probably saved and can afford stuff. The average salary on the shore is far below where I live. The average salary in a 5 mile radius of me is 126,000 per year. The cost of living index is 121. The COL in Salisbury is 100. Not much of a difference in COL but a big difference in salary. The shore is not the way it is because everyone is a dumb hick. I hate when I read comments of that nature. The economy there has never really boomed. There is just a good ole boy network that dominates everything and charges the prices they want. For example, Sperry Vaness (Brent Miller) Has extremely high rent prices. If you find a building owned by a local and deal directly with them you can get it way cheaper. Housing prices were so high because a few contractors started getting really greedy with their prices. Well people bought them and then all home values raised making everyone spend more on houses. When the economy crashed most owed more than their house was worth. The same thing is happening at PRMC, The Fire House, Local Government etc. I no longer live on the shore but it will I always be home and I love it dearly. I just wish the same people you see on billboards, commercials, metropolitan magazine, wboc and other outlets would just move away. The eastern shore has tremendous opportunity for growth. It only takes a few businesses to turn everything around. Joe had the idea right but not enough people could see it. He had crazy ideas, said we need to spend less of the Fire Dept, called PRMC and the zoo a joke. Well, after living somewhere else for 3 years I can tell you he was right. Wake up people. Salisbury is a diamond in the rough. I just pray it's not too late to fix the problems.

I'm moving. Can't wait. This place SUCKS. And, I got a great paying job waiting for me. This whole and entire peninsula sucks.

  22. The area has lost all its charm. I too just moved away from the area after trying for along time to make it work here. I moved to a state were the jobs are good, low crime, and lots of very nice people. Leaving Delmarva was the best thing I could have ever done and I will never return. Good companies will never come to Delmarva, not enough people to support them. The area has sunk to a point it can't come back from. Farms don't create good paying jobs and Walmart isn't a career.
