Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision Wicomico County 7-16-13

DATE & TIME: 07/16/2013 @ 0434 hrs

LOCATION: Southbound Nanticoke Rd @ Capitola Rd, Wicomico County
BRIEF RESUME: On Tuesday July 16, 2013 at approximately 0434 hours Troopers of the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack responded to a two vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of southbound Nanticoke Rd @ Capitola Rd., Bivalve, Wicomico County, Maryland. Upon arrival, investigation revealed a Vehicle #1, a 2012 Ford Focus was traveling southbound Nanticoke Rd. at Capitola Rd. when it crossed the double yellow lane markings and struck vehicle #2, a 2009 GMC Sierra pickup, head on. Vehicle #2 was traveling northbound on Nanticoke Rd. The operator of Vehicle #1, 21 year old Ian Buchanan Gray, of Bivalve, was pronounced deceased. The operator of vehicle #2, 57 year old Keith Barnes, of Tyaskin, was transported to PRMC with NON life threatening injuries.

    It is so heartbreaking when these things happen. A close community where you watch all these kids grow up takes a bad hit when they loose one.

    I am heartbroken.
