Fire, Rescue And Emergency Personnel To Gather In Resort

Volunteer fire, rescue and emergency medical services personnel will gather at the Ocean City convention center Saturday for the first day of the 121st annual Maryland State Firemen’s Association and Ladies Auxiliary convention and conference.

Convention Chairman Ronald Siarnicki said about 12,000 rescue personnel and their friends and family will be “descending upon Ocean City” for the June 16-21 event. He said 358 companies in Maryland are registered to attend.

Siarnicki said organizers continue to create a family-friendly environment with some of the same activities from previous years, but a new component has also been added.

The convention will kick off with new “Hands On Training” sessions on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Those who attend will learn fire and rescue skills, work with tools including ladders and hoses and learn important techniques such as forceful entry.

  1. Maybe they can tackle some OC crime problems while they are there. The police can't handle it because their hands are tied because of politics.

  2. I wonder is some of the brand new fire equipment from the Salisbury Fire Department will be there. Salisbury has 3 brand new Ford Explorer chiefs cars so they may be there on display!

I bet the fat fire chief will go there and walk around while he is supposed to be on duty in Salisbury.

It's called "networking" code word for socializing on the tax payer's dime.

no, it's because the cops there, and others, get paid too much money. more than they are worth arguably.

when someone gets paid a lot of money, they get lazy. they think they are too good to do some things. they collect a paycheck whether they do their jobs or not, so what's their incentive to actually DO anything?

    Civic duty or pride? HA.

It wouldn't surprise me if they get paid from the crooks also to look the other way.

They want to go home at the end of their shift like everyone else. And not mess up their pretty uniforms either.

They make a few arrests for underage drinking, bust some pot smokers/sellers and call it a day.

Then they squeeze the big bellies past the steering wheel, waddle into their house and eat dinner. Unless of course someone offers them overtime. Nice little chunk of change added to their already inflated paycheck and egos.
