Pelosi: More Gun Control Needed Because ‘We Took an Oath to Protect and Defend’
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said action must be taken in the aftermath of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School because members of Congress took an oath to “protect and defend,” although the actual oath says to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States ….”
Pelosi held a House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee hearing on "Gun Violence Prevention: A Call to Action,” where she endorsed the gun control proposals President Barack Obama unveiled today.
“Earlier this month, shortly after Newtown, all members of Congress took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the American people,” Pelosi said. “To protect and defend. That is our first responsibility.” More
Senate oath: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
To the letter Nancy, "protect and defend the constitution". Leave American's you do not speak for out of it and do your job. (see above) When will people realize she is the domestic enemy we should be protecting the constitution from!
As soon as she gives up her gun and armed protective detail, I'll think about listening to her whining. Meanwhile her do as I say not as I do attitude shows exactly what she is.....
I think those words were intended for reference to the constitution. Time for this lady to retire. Is there not some competency test these people are required to pass? If not that needs to be a first order of business. That should clear out about 1/2 the commu-crats and about 1/4 of he replubli-crats.
