A Letter To The Editor 12-24-12

I noticed in today's The Daily Times newspaper that they referred to Joe Albero as 'Blogger'.

I've got news for The Daily Times - they need to take a good look at themselves in the mirror.

If case they haven't noticed - I would now classify The Daily Times newspaper as a Tabloid source of information.

Their downsized new media look seems to match their dimishished distribution list.

All the while - SBYnews 'rocks on' setting record after record in increased hits.

  1. The DT really has gone down and down. I vividly remember their robust old look. The newspaper used to be ripe with news and information. What a shame to let such an icon deteriorate.

  2. I believe The Daily Times would stoop to just about any level to try and suffocate their competition.

It is all about promotion of special interest with that bunch.

  3. While I do own and write for this "Blog" the Daily Times is very well aware of my past corporate experience. In fact, if it wasn't for my company, the Daily Times would literally be in the "dark". Allow me to explain.

I used to own a company called Illumination Technology Inc, aka, I.T.I..

ITI was founded on the idea that we could create Safelights for developing film in a darkroom that was far superior over the traditional incandescent Kodak Safelight. We developed the new fluorescent technology, allowing not only 4 feet worth of illumination but all around illumination. The Incandescent lamp was more like a flash light aimed at one small area and did not illuminate the entire room successfully like ours did.

Making a long story short, I retired at 40 years old because of our success. If anyone is interested in more you can ask or simply contact me and I'll explain more.

There's no question in my mind that Gannett Corporation used our fluorescent technology in their "Darkroom" as millions upon millions of businesses around the world bought and promoted our product, including Eastman Kodak and every other Film Manufacturer in the World. It was better and safer.

I've also owned several other businesses, yet the Daily Times wants to expand "Delmar DE and Blogger" in support of Mayor Ireton's push as my being a Delaware Blogger.

Keep in mind Ladies & Gentlemen, the Daily Times did an article on me where they visited my Downtown apartment and clearly confirmed I do in fact live here. They had every opportunity to interview many neighbors on the Plaza who know I've been living here and probably did just that to assure I qualified.

The Daily Times wants to load the field with Candidates, (which I fully support) to create a primary in the hopes Joe Albero will get knocked out of the general election. This too will backfire.

I'm going to run for Mayor of Salisbury and I'm going to win this election with your votes. Only then will Salisbury finally turn around. Only then will citizens realize the TRUTH behind just how bad off Salisbury is and the immediate attention Salisbury needs to fix unbelievable infrastructure problems that Barrie Tilghman and Jim Ireton have hidden over the past 16 years.

We are going to have to face these immediate needs and believe me when I tell you, it's NOT going to be pretty, especially for me because I'm going to end up being the one spreading the bad news they have hidden for so long. You never hear the Mayor telling you were going to have to start paying for that $140,000,000.00 water and sewer debt and your going to be stuck paying an additional $30.00 to $60.00 a month for each property owner. How's that going to feel on your wallet?

Many of you are calling City Hall complaining about the absolute disgusting conditions of many of the roads throughout Salisbury and you've been ignored, yet your still subjected to paying taxes. SOMEONE has to face it head on and do something about it.

I'm the guy that's going to deliver the TRUTH. Now, we can all vote for Jim Ireton and ignore what is inevitable. The difference between the two of us is, I'm man enough to face all of you with the truth. I'm man enough to come up with solutions and not hide such problems in a closet. I've done so with Salisbury News and the Daily Times knows of these problems but chooses to keep them in the closet as well because it doesn't sell papers.

    So True!

  5. The way I read is they want someone else to run. I hope they do!

  6. Although I don't live in Salisbury, I have friends who do and they are not at all happy with the situation. Salisbury is no longer the safe, pretty place that it used to be. Hopefully, Mr. Albero will make a difference since he won't have to pay back all the favors for votes.

    Good Luck Joe.

As to the Daily Times, if it gets much smaller, I'll have to get new glasses. Pitiful. The ads are the best part. WMDT.com can give you better new for free.

  7. What's amazing (and speaks volumes) is that Joe the "blogger" is getting and will get more comments than the origination point (The DT's) of the article linked on this blog, Salisbury News.
I've said it before and I'll say it again-This blog and it's success is the result of Joe's vision and innovative spirit and forward thinking. There had come the time when Salisbury and the surrounding area needed an alternative news source-and one where the public could interact without fear of retaliation and Joe created and produced the perfect outlet.
Those are the same qualities voters and citizens should want and expect in their elected representatives.

  8. NO STATUE WAS EVER ERECTED OF A MONUMENTAL FIGURE THAT HASN'T BEEN RIDICULED.

Salisbury AND the Daily Times needs to really think hard about that statement.

I have stood up against many a figures here and against all odds I have succeeded.

  9. According to the DT's this article is #1 on their "Most Popular" meter. Now you all know that it's being linked through this "blog." That's got to be frosting their butts
The DT's fostered and grew their own unpopularity and now they must chew on it. The biggest boneheaded decision they ever made was to go to Facebook commenting.

  10. I didn't feel that they were degrading you. After all you are Iretons political nemesis, and you are currently a blogger. I think that you will win the election, but only if you start walking the walk.

  11. Merry Christmas Joe! In the coming year may the city of Salisbury be blessed with a Mayor who cares.

  12. Does anyone remember what Barrie Tilghman tried to do to me when I spoke out against "The Bricks"? It was only because of this site and the overwhelming support the readers showed that kept me going. We need to show Joe the support that is needed to turn this town around. A vote for Joe will be a vote for a better Salisbury.

  13. I just read that article in the dt. It was informative if someone wanted to run but a couple of spots looked like an immature writer being passive-aggressive.

Except for council, there are enough candidates for mayor, imho.

I would like to see shields replaced, again, imho.

I think Joe is correct when he says it's the voters election to lose, not his.

I think Joe would be a positive change for Salisbury. Which is so desperately needed.

  14. I heard a rumor Jim made a scene in MoJo's a couple of weekends ago.

  15. Can you be addressed as Mayor Blogger Albero? Merry Christmas Joe.

  16. i hear that he(ireton) is "drunk in public" on a regular basis, mostly at mojo's. he has no pride nor good sense apparantly. i hope mr. albero wins this election , i only wish we could have it sooner. our household can't wait to vote our current "mayor" out of office

  17. When I read the article - I thought to myself - The DT is attempting to dilute the election by encouraging others to run for Salsbury's Mayor.

The DT staff probably polled a sample of voters and found out that Joe is starting to pull out in front of the pack.

Bottom line - Albero's vision for SBY is grander than anyone could have ever imagined. I hope for the sake of the citizens of Salisbury & Wicomico County that Joe becomes Salisbury's next Mayor.

  18. Go ahead Daily Times staff, keep pimping the other candidate. In the end it is going to backfire like everything else in your arsenal.

  19. Once again Salisbury News is making the no.1 article, however this time it is on The Daily Times tab. According to their own popularity meter - Salisbury News is the No.1 featured article.

  20. I also noticed the daily rag never mention the name of your blog in their article. After discussing it with my husband we gave them our very own Christmas present, we canceled our subscription today.

  21. By now most everyone in and around Salisbury knows that The Daily Times has a liberal agenda. If you don't walk the walk their way - then they will try and portray you as some sort of eccentric scoundrel.

It was not always that way though - but for the past decade or so they have gone the way of so many other liberal newspapers.

It is so refreshing to be able to read the REAL NEWS - (sbynews) - as opposed to fabricated news.

  22. Mayor Albero what is the first thing you are going to do in office?

  23. anonymous 7:45, Bring back peace, order, respect, accountability and dignity in the City of Salisbury.

  24. About Mojo's. I heard female employees of the City of Salisbury were involved in a disgusting incident in the ladies room also involving the current Mayor. I hope they bring charges against him.

  25. The "Daily Fishwrapper" no longer warrants purchase for a number of reasons. I wish I still had a bird cage.

  26. I can tell you something else that Mayor Albero would fix ASAP. The Salisbury Waste Water Treatment plant.

Under Ireton/Tilghman's leadership - the Salisbury Waste Water Treatment plant has habitually, I REPEAT HABITUALLY, violated the clean water act, and virtually every other environmental protection regulation.

This plant has dumped so much raw sewage into the Wicomico river that I have lost count. 30,000, 50,000, 100,000, 300,000 gallons and the lord only knows how much really went into our river.

I hope that Albero wins by a landslide as Salisbury deserves better than we have been getting.

We need a real man to 'step up to the plate'.

  27. I will be glad when the dt is no more. Then I won't have red plastic bags with a worthless 'newspaper' or whatever it is, in my driveway.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Now that the grandkids are gone to the other Pop Pop's, time to check in to the news and I don't mean the DT. I was stupid enough to buy that paper yesterday because it had Santa on the front and I knew the kids would get a kick out of that.

Then I saw that stupid article that sounded like a middle schooler wrote it. That writer comes off like a punk. A real reporter would have at least called you "retired businessman and blogger."

The punk writing the article made some snotty response to the mayor's comment. I can't stand Ireton, but it's not a reporter's place say what he did.

He made some stupid comment about the council, too, but I forget what it was and the paper already served its main use of catching potato peelings.

Merry Christmas, everybody, and don't forget the reason for the season.

  29. To 8:53 & 12:01 - Ditto

    I could not agree more.

  30. I noticed when I went into Wal-mart late yesterday that there were a stack unsold Daily Times newspapers. I contemplated buying one - then I thought what a waste of precious money. I'm glad I decided to forego the luxury in light of the front page comment.

  31. anonymous 5:37, every time I personally came across a bell ringer for the Salvation Army I put money in the bucket thinking, if only people did what I was doing instead of buying that rag of a newspaper your money would at least be going to a good place worthy of you contribution.

The Daily Times is not going to last and I think everyone knows that. They are desperately trying to get anyone to run for Mayor because they are scared to death I'm going to win. Their hope is that I get knocked out in a primary election and guess what, I LOVE IT! I think it would be absolutely unreal for the Daily Times and Jim Ireton to see first hand just how large the numbers will be in my favor. Just know that while I may sound like a broken record over the next few months calling the Daily Times out for such, know that in the end when the numbers do show what I'm saying they will, the Daily Times will have lost all credibility they had left and they'll have no choice but to finally call it quits.

Now let me tell you why that would be a good thing. It's NOT because I want Salisbury News to be #1, we already are and they know that to be a fact.

The reason I want them to fold is because they lie and they manufacture news. They call Debbie Campbell, Terry Cohen and Tim Spies "the council of no's". They know for a FACT that Ireton knew the Council couldn't move forward with certain agenda items and let me give you a quick example. The recent "NO" vote on the bike path, the bike committee didn't have enough members to VOTE on it, therefore the Council could NOT move forward with a vote. Cohen and Campbell asked the Mayor years earlier to please run an ad for additional volunteers for the Bike Path and the Mayor did NOT do so. So when it came to a vote, well, you get my drift.

When I start holding meet and greets, please take the time to visit and I'll share with all of you ALL of the crazy things Ireton has been doing and show you how the local MSM knew what Ireton has been doing was nothing short of a game.

I'll never forget being in court one time where someone was challenging me and they were lying through their teeth. When it came time to pass judgment on the case the honorable Judge said, you know, I may not like Mr. Albero's answers but one thing I can tell you, he doesn't lie, unlike the person who was challenging me. He went on to explain why. I say this because you may not WANT to hear the truth but it's who I am. I don't have time to simply pamper the public with feel good BS answers.

I'm going to step into the Mayor's Office and I'm going to instantly change the playing field. I have ideas and plans that will instantly change Salisbury and again, I invite you to come to our upcoming meet and greets and find out just what those plans are.

You can't ignore front ends falling off Police Cars. You can't ignore a $140,000,000.00 Waster Water Treatment Plant that could have been done for $35,000,000.00. You can't ignore the pot holes and failing infrastructure any longer.

I plan on addressing our most serious issues head on FIRST. Then and only AFTER we have made solid ground as to fixing the basics we might discuss a skate park and so forth. When we find ways to relieve taxpayers by bringing in manufacturers and jobs, then we'll talk. Until then, we need to fix Salisbury and not stand in front of cameras BS'ing the public with feel good press conferences.

    More to come...
