Medicaid and Medicare Enrollees Now Outnumber Full-Time Private Sector Workers

The combined number of people enrolled in Medicaid and Medicare--the government health-care programs for the poor, disabled and elderly--now exceeds the number of full-time private sector workers in the United States.
In 2011, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), there were 70.4 million people who enrolled in Medicaid for at least one month. There were also 48.849 million people enrolled in Medicare. That gave Medicaid and Medicare a gross combined enrollment of 119.249 million in 2011.

  1. What's obamas plan to fix this? Yup. He doesn't have one, unless you count "go merrily along" as a plan. This CANNOT continue, as either the Fed will run out of trees to kill for their fake money, or the rest of the world will begin to treat us as the poor relative who keeps borrowing money --- and cuts us off.

  2. What would you suggest the people enrolling in these programs such as the seniors the disabled and the very poor do. Just go somewhere and die. I do agree it needs to be fixed however. Starting with the people that don't need to be on these programs. Cut them and you may see a whole different picture and sustainable programs.

  3. This sounds like another "smoke and mirrors" report to me. Why compare to just "full time private sector workers"? Why not compare to all people who pay into the fund, like the military, social security retirees, government workers, etc. etc. etc.?

  5. 1045-Is it smoke and mirrors that we have more people on entitlements than actually work? No, it's Obamanomics.

  6. Just vote for Romney!! His administration will create 12 million jobs. Shouldn't be too hard since thats already the projected rate of job growth under current policy.
