BREAKING NEWS: Dead Body Found In Wicomico River

The Fire Boat has been put into use for its first voyage. Unfortunately they found a dead body floating in the river just moments ago near Brew River.

UPDATE: The body has been removed from the river and placed on the Fire Boat. Let's just hope the medical examiner doesn't take too long in this heat. At least the river was somewhat cool.

UPDATE: Body will be kept on Paramedic 2 to keep cool.

  1. Oh boy hauling in a dead body. That fire boat is sure paying off.

  2. That job could have been accomplished with a 14 foot skiff with a 25 hp outboard, or even paddles. Bet they burned $200 worth of fuel on that job.

  3. you probably wouldn't care how much it cost if it were your son/daughter/spouse/brother/sister/parent/friend/etc.

  5. Give me a break they used the fire boat for that!?! Of course I'm sure when they turned the body over to the M.E. they had an opportunity to train and took a boat ride to Smith Island & Back! Here we go with our newest embarrassment for the City of Salisbury! Did they go down river a ways so they could come up to the scene with lights & sirens, planed out, w.o.t. & with 20 brave firefighters onboard fighting for a turn at the helm!?!!! Do they have rod holders onboard for the chiefs Snoopy collectors series rods yet?

  6. Umm the person is already dead so not sure how the fire boat helps them....so yea I would care how much the fire boat costs too. Any other boat would have done the job.

  7. Curious, who found the body?

  8. Any missing persons filed recently?

  9. Did they even have to take the boat out of the slip for that?! They probably just loosened the dock lines!

  14. What is the deal with the car/SUV that has been towed from the same parking lot...this being coordinated by the Police Dept.?

  15. Someone being deceased is sad indeed. In addition the city of Salisbury having the fire boat is another wound in what will lead to the cities sad death if Joe is not elected as mayor and things don't begin to change pronto!

  16. I heard that it was a man who lived on a house boat on the river and because he had a few too much to drink, he fell off of his boat and hit his head on either the dock or the side of the boat.

  17. 3:51, I take it that your body is dead then?

  18. The fire boat is a joke. The police and other respondents had no problem controlling situations before this boat. The city of salisbury has no need for a fire boat. The dnr has plenty of small water crafts that served salisburys needs just fine before this waste of tax money!

  19. Why did they need the fire boat, and not just lift the body onto the dock, right beside where the ambulance was parked. Rediculous, they just needed to start and drive it. Someone needs to take the toys away from the boys.

    You are an idiot!

  22. So the million dollar fire boat was used to lift a dead body out of the water when all they had to do was reach down and grab it from the dock. What a waste of tax dollars. Rick Hoppes needs to be fired and Jim Liarton needs to be impeached.

You must be the idiot trying to justify your job with scare tactics. I say get rid of all the paid fireman.

  25. Geesh what ever did we do to pull bodies from the river before this $1,000,000 fireboat/play toy?

If the body was bloatin' it was floatin'

Wrong again genius. I call you genius because you call everyone idiot, so you must be superior in intelligence. Right?

Let me guess, you are one of the 'professionals' around here.

  29. July 2, 2012 9:52 has a great point here. Does the public realize the paid fireman are not a necessity? There is no need to continue to subsidize "jobs" when there are volunteers to do the job. The need is for Paramedics and EMS personnel to get the ambulance on the road. Not 60 paid fireman looking for ways to create calls for them to respond on to justify their jobs.

  30. Maybe the original message was misunderstood. It was the guy who lived on Richmond Ave in the home that caught fire earlier. Not thinking clearly, maybe the fireboat crew thought he was still on fire while floating in the river.
