Study: Millions Of Kids' Antibiotic Prescriptions Unneeded

Pediatricians write more than 10 million unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions—for conditions like the flu and asthma—every year, suggests a new study.

Those ailments, and others not caused by bacteria, don't respond to the drugs. But misuse of antibiotics contributes to drug resistance—so those same medications might not work in the future when they're really needed.

    This is old news to anyone with a lick of common sense who actually has taken two seconds to look this stuff up. Too bad we just have so many idiots who do as told. They are the same folks who buy antibacterial soap (works the same as regular soap) but microwave their food in styrofoam containers (what, you thought that white stuff just evaporated)

    4:28 Obamacare? Really dum dum, really? In your judgment, what is the effectiveness of antibiotics against the flu/common cold?

    Yeah, they wouldn't give me one when I really needed it & I almost died from sepsis.
    I was sick a very long time.
