Suspicious Package At Mardela Post Office

While the MSM can't seem to get their information correct and while we planned on broadcasting this information at 6 PM tonight, my Wireless Card says it will take 4 hours to upload the show so we will not have a show tonight, yet we will provide the information here for this particular story.

George Merrill Collins dropped off a suspicious suitcase loaded with the above brochures. You may recall Mr. Collins HERE in an article we provided not that long ago where he was tagging his own home.

Mr. Collins was arrested this morning and evaluated by PRMC. Go figure, he was already released. I have personally been in contact numerous times with the Delaware State Police for harassment from Mr. Collins and today I learned I am not the only person this man has been abusing.

I have received some 100+ text messages, most of which were very verbally abusive. The DSP was getting ready to make contact with Mr. Collins today when they learned he had just been arrested. That clearly didn't last very long.

This man needs some serious medical attention and while I feel sorry for this man I will no longer tolerate his abusive behavior. This man has been leaving items in our Mail Box and the state of DE will not stand for this any longer.

I'm told the Bomb Squad had to actually take the suitcase out and blow it up and this guy is actually back on the street, even though they know he's not all with it. Great job PRMC.

To WBOC, now you have a name but you won't have it for your 6:00 PM Broadcast. You're welcome to use it at 11:00 PM though.

Salisbury Coach Thinks Sea Gulls Will Stay At DIII Level

Salisbury has been a dominant force in Division III lacrosse, winning eight national titles under head coach Rick Berkman, who is in his 21st season at the school.

Berkman is often asked if the Sea Gulls with move up to Division I, but he doesn't see that happening in the foreseeable future.

"I don't see us doing [that]. In fact, it's almost impossible to do it unless you do it like Hobart did," Berkman said. "In that situation, Hobart can't give scholarships and I think we can all say Hobart isn't the old Hobart. If you do that, you have to have tremendous commitment, which requires your other sports to go DI, or at least one of the women's sports to move up as well. I don't think we have the financial commitment from the school to move up."

ZERO $$$ FOR CASA de MARYLAND IN ANNAPOLIS

Through the joint efforts of the members of Help Save Maryland and People for Change in Prince George's County, the proposed Bond Funding for CASA de Maryland (Central American Solidarity Association) was stopped dead in its tracks!

CASA, using the Montgomery and Prince George's County House and Senate delegations like puppets, demanded $500K for their so-called "multi-cultural center" in Langley Park, Prince George's County. This multi-million dollar sink-hole has already taken enough of the Maryland taxpayer's hard earned money.

Last month, members of HSM and PFC testified on a Saturday before House and Senate Committees to demand an end to the gravy train for CASA de Maryland. It worked! Zero dollars have been allocated for CASA.

Let's all keep an eye on Governor Martin O'Malley as he came forward last year to provide CASA with $1 million from the Governor's personal slush fund for the Langley Park facility. With Bob Erhlich breathing down his neck, I wonder if O'Malley will be so bold this year??

On a similar note, another illegal alien support group, Identity Inc of Gaithersburg, Montgomery County, also attempted to hoodwink the citizens of our state for $350K for their new and improved "Hispanic gang club house". HSM and PFC members also testified against this waste of money. Identity Inc's demand for $350K was slashed to $30K. That is still $30K too much!

Reflection Of My Earlier Article On The Stock Market

The Smoke and Mirrors Economy

We have an economy run on smoke and mirrors, based on the manipulation of markets. That was accomplished via the executive order signed by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 in the aftermath of the stock market collapse of October 19, 1987, known as the “President’s Working Group on Financial markets.” This order intended to be implemented during emergencies has been used to manipulate markets worldwide 24/7.

We experienced an example of this misuse of power when the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose from 6,500 to 10,900 over this past year. This rise was aided by TARP and a host of other programs that injected trillions of dollars into the economy, which, of course, the American citizen is responsible for. The result is we do not have free investment markets. A secret group led by the Federal Reserve and the US Treasury Department runs them. The SEC and the CFTC play their parts as government agencies to make sure the public doesn’t know what is going on. Another recent example is the CFTC testimony of Andrew Maguire, who informed the CFTC the date on which the market in silver was going to be manipulated by JPMorgan Chase. The manipulation occurred as outlined by Maguire and the CFTC did nothing to stop it. Thus, we have heavily manipulated markets that are part of control planning by our government in order to shape economic policy. If you happen to be on the right side of the trade it is fine. That is in this case if you are long the market. The other side of the trade is you lose as your government suppressed the gold and silver markets. You lose in a rigged market. This is the new American way. Seeing 72% of NYSE trades are black box created Wall Street wins and you lose. Better yet you just were allowed to bailout Wall Street and banking. Such a deal brought to you by the masters of the universe members of the Illuminist Skull & Bones.

Stock Market Beatings

Let me start by saying I have personally lost quite a bit of money years ago in the Stock Market, like most Americans.

However, I was fortunate enough to reclaim my losses through capital gains on the sale of one of my properties, allow me to explain. What most Americans do NOT realize is, if you lose a large sum of money on the Stock Market, you can only claim $3,000.00 in losses and you can only do so for 3 or 4 years, that's it.

So let's say you lose $300,000.00. Yes, you guessed it, you can only write off $3,000.00!!!!!! However, if you happen to sell a piece of property that you own within that 3 or 4 year period, you can write off your losses on the Stock Market against your capital gains. So while property values drop, the chances of your being in that position are slim to none any more.

Every single day I look at different Websites and watch them boast about how the Stock Market is doing. Most days they'll say, stocks rose because unemployment went down, interest rates remain low, blah, blah, blah. The next day, or maybe two days later you'll read how stocks went down because unemployment rose slightly.

Here's the deal though Folks. The New York Stock Exchange will NEVER, EVER, see another penny invested by me. While you take the gamble and the Federal Government steps in to rescue select companies, if WE happen to lose money, we're not allowed to write off the full loss, period.

I have been telling everyone for years, the Government will suck you dry, then do it again. Once you're broke, they'll get you to borrow money against ANY equity you may own or perhaps even create programs like Cash for Clunkers and get you to buy something you really do not need. Once you are broke again they'll come up with things like a soda tax, $ .89 tax on a $2.00 bottle of soda. That's just a mild example.

So I ask you, why in the world would anyone ever consider playing the Stock Market again? Is it because someone just might buy that brand new company like Microsoft and become a billionaire in a few short years? I have asked for the past 7 years, where's the new Microsoft? Where's the new Industry that will bring America forward again? Oh, that's right, all those companies are in China. They used to be here but they left because they pay less than a dollar an hour while the average wage in America is $29.00 an hour.

Yeah, I think I'll keep my money in Real Estate for the time being, even though that value can't be trusted any more either. Besides, who has money to buy stocks anyway. What a Country!

Grass And Weeds!

Dear Joe,

I line here in the City Limits of Salisbury, and some of the grass and weeds in my front yard are getting a little too tall. Could you pleas tell Code Compliance to come over and measure them for me? I don’t have a ruler, and need to know if it’s time to mow already.

Thanks,

Children's Book Drive

Dear Joe Albero,

Your readers may be interested in a community service group I have recently started called Shine NOW. It is an acronym for Students Helping In Neighborhoods Everywhere NOW and that is exactly what this volunteer group has set out to do. Representatives from Worcester Preparatory School and Bennett High School are serving on the Shine NOW committee and will be sponsoring a book drive for local charities that help children in the tri-county area. During the weeks of March 29th through April 19th, volunteers will collect gently used hardcover and paperback books for children from Pre-school to 5th Grade. Donation boxes will be located in the lobby of One Plaza East in Downtown Salisbury and Long and Foster on Mount Hermon Road. Also, flyers will be posted in local neighborhoods to promote this book drive. During these difficult economic times, any donation would be greatly appreciated. Spring is a great time for cleaning out closets and rummaging through old children’s books.

Please help make this book drive a great success and help children experience the joy of reading through your generous donations!

With The Washington Redskins?

A Woman’s Place Is In The Church

The cause of the Catholic clergy's sex-abuse scandal is no mystery: insular groups of men often do bad things. So why not break up the all-male club?

Here they are, the members of history's oldest and most elite all-male club, trying to manage what began as a domestic crisis. For decades, certain priests in America, Europe, Ireland, Brazil (and God knows where else) abused—raped or otherwise molested—children and teenagers not in the frescoed halls of the Vatican but in their own backyards: on camping trips and in cars, in dormitories and confessionals. Those few boys and girls confident enough to tell their secret whispered it to the women they trusted: mothers, aunts, grandmothers. Those few women brave enough to question authority or seek justice from the bishops were hushed up and shut down. In this case Jesus was wrong: the meek did not inherit the earth. They received pious and self-serving sermonizing.

"To be sure," wrote Boston's Cardinal Humberto Medeiros to one mother incensed over the sexual abuse of seven boys in her own family, "we cannot accept sin, but we know well that we must love the sinner."

Even with a mother, Mary, at the center of the Christian story, the women of today's church have found themselves marginalized and preached to amid the interminable revelations of the sexual-abuse scandals. Their prayers to the Virgin, protector of humanity, seem to have gone unanswered.

No wonder the men now charged with damage control face such a credibility gap, a sense that they—who read apologies from teleprompters—appear insufficiently aghast at the damage done. On Palm Sunday in New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan condemned sex abuse from his throne in St. Patrick's looking for all the world like a well-fed Fortune 500 CEO. A YouTube clip shows Cardinal Sean Brady of Ireland—where 15,000 children were abused over four decades—peremptorily dismissing calls for his resignation. After a New York Times story reported that Pope Benedict XVI (then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger) failed to defrock a priest who abused 200 deaf children in Wisconsin, the pope lashed out against the news media. Faith, he said, allows one not "to be intimidated by the petty gossip of dominant opinion." Time and again, the pope and his surrogates fail to convince us of their grief

New Verizon Wireless Cards Are A Joke

Last week I received two new Wireless Cards from Verizon. I was told these were the newest version and would dramatically speed up my connection to the Internet, WRONG!

At the moment, they are slower than a Dial Up connection, hence the delay in Posts this morning.

I have contacted Verizon and while they walked me through the steps to refresh and perhaps speed up my connection it seems it was simply to pamper me. I'm to be comforted by a return call at 11:00 AM to let them know if things are any better. Verizon better be prepared for one upset customer.

While many of you laughed at the old Wireless Card I had in the past, it was a thousand times faster. I guess I'll just have to take my time for now and keep the Posts coming at a much slower pace, for now.

Underwritten by M&T Bank, the Stand for Children-Pinwheels for Prevention campaign has a website, www.standforchildrenmd.org with practical information on building strong families, and the opportunity for families to design and dedicate a pinwheel for its virtual pinwheel garden. Visitors to the site can share their pinwheel with friends and colleagues via social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook. Fact sheets are available on how schools, scout troops, youth groups, faith communities, colleges, organizations, neighborhoods and local businesses can be involved in this effort by creating pinwheel gardens and other awareness events.

This will be the first of many Pinwheel Gardens throughout the State of Maryland in celebration of Stand for Children and Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The Family Tree is Maryland’s leading nonprofit working to improve our community by providing families with proven solutions to prevent child abuse and neglect. Through family focused education, outreach services and a 24-hour Stressline, we reached over 21,000 parents, caregivers and children last year. Support Good Candidates, NOT the MDGOP

I’m deeply saddened when I write a post like this. I grew up in the Republican Party. Fortunately, I grew up in a Republican Party that worked hard and became successful (obviously in another state).

Today, MDGOP chair Audrey Scott begins a weeklong tour around the state. It kicks off at noon in Annapolis and moves to Salisbury for a 6:30 PM meeting in the DaNang Room of the Civic Center. I don’t know what Scott will be saying, but I’m sure she’ll be telling us that the MDGOP is on an upswing and that we’ll win big in November.

GOP candidates will probably win big in November. GOP candidates will probably even win a few in the Once Free State. Unfortunately, those winning candidates won’t be winning because of the Republican National Committee OR the MDGOP.

However, any political party that deliberately spurns the people that are needed to win simply can’t win more than the odd race. Ever wonder why the Maryland Democrat Party works so hard to stay on the good side of groups like the MSEA (teachers), MCEA (state government workers) or various African-American groups? They turn out their vote.

Why then should grassroots conservatives support a party that isn’t particularly interested in them and more interested in being a bunch of big fishes in a little pond rather than actually winning elections? Turn out for tonight’s meeting. Maybe we’ll find out.

Senator Reid Buys A New GM

Sen. Reid goes to a local GM dealer in Washington , D.C. with the intention of buying a brand new vehicle. Harry looks around and finds one he likes.

After going back and forth with the salesman, Harry settles on a price of $45,000.

Harry and the salesman go back to the office to complete the paperwork. Harry works out a 4-year payment plan, and signs on the bottom line.

The salesman shakes Harry’s hand and says, “Thanks Senator Reid, the car will be ready for pickup in 4 years.”

Harry says, “What are you talking about? Where are the keys to my new car?” The salesman replies, “No, you don’t understand Senator. You make payments for 4 years… THEN we give you the car. You know, just like your health plan.”

Harry, with a choking voice, says to the salesman, “But that’s not fair.”
The salesman says, “NO KIDDING!“

Top GOP Lawmakers Want Accountability At RNC

Two top congressional Republicans said Sunday the Republican National Committee must be held accountable for the way it uses the money it raises in light of nearly $2,000 spent for a night at a sex-themed Hollywood nightclub.

"This kind of thing has got to stop or they won't get any contributions," said Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, the No. 2 Republican in the Senate.

Kyl and Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California, who is leading the GOP effort to recruit candidates and elect House members, distanced themselves from RNC Chairman Michael Steele when discussing the committee's controversial spending.

Steele has come under fire for committee spending on flights, limousines and high-end hotels, but he was not present at the Voyeur Hollywood West on Jan. 31 when a group of young Republicans ran a tab picked up by the RNC. After reporters noted the bill in a funding report, the RNC fired a staffer it blamed for the outing and said it would be reimbursed by a donor who had attended.

Asked on "Fox News Sunday" if Steele should step down, Kyl demurred but said, "The people that contribute to the committees, both Democrat and Republican, want to know that their money is well spent for the cause, and it needs to be that way."

McCarthy, appearing on the same show, sidestepped the question of whether Steele has his full confidence.

In April Please Help Fight Back Increased Property Taxes

Last week, Wicomico County Councilman Bill McCain held a town hall meeting to discuss raising property taxes to meet the county's ever growing spending problem. Wicomico AFP dominated that meeting and we successfully delivered the message for our county leaders to balance the budget. We set the tone of that meeting, but the battle to keep County Executive, Rick Pollitt, from raising our taxes is not over. It's just begun. For more information on last weeks meeting, please see the various coverage Here, Here, and Here.

Also of note, Dave and I went into the liberal belly of the beast and did an interview on NPR Radio last week. I have to say I was quite pleased with it overall. If you'd like to listen to it, just Click Here. Let me know what you think!

TUESDAY April 6th: Wicomico County Council NIGHT Meeting! April 6th 6pm Salisbury GOB Building

We've been asking for it! Transparency and access to the Wicomico County Council meetings. After nearly a year of beating this drum, the council gave in just a slight amount and offered up quarterly evening meetings. THIS Tuesday is it!

Scheduling the council conducting meetings at night when most working people can attend should be a no brainer, but it's almost been a year long battle of asking, and yes demanding they serve the people who pay the taxes. Yet we have made marginal progress to engage with out local government.

PLEASE forward this email, call your friends and neighbors and make it out to Tuesday night's meeting. This should be a good meeting with issues of Storm Water Management and Elected School Board members on the agenda. Please see the agenda here.

Remember our county is having some serious budget problems and unless we get involved and show up, your taxes will be raised to fill that gap. That is no exaggeration. It is up to us!

Please email me back and let me know if you can make it.
THURSDAY April 8th: County Executive Rick Pollitt's Budget Preview Meeting 7pm Civic Center: Flanders Room

I ran into a few of the more conservative county council members over the weekend and they urged me to get folks out to this meeting. Rick Pollitt wants to raise our taxes. He has made no bones about it. He is trying to get a ground swell to repeal the revenue cap. Please come out to this event and get any property owner you know to attend as well. Please let me know if you can attend with a quick email.

Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., announced today that he will hold his 4th annual budget preview meeting on Thursday, April 8th beginning at 7:00 P.M. in the Flanders Rooms of the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. As always, the public is invited and encouraged to attend. Mr. Pollitt said, "The current Fiscal Year 2010 operating budget is $120.7 Million. That is $8.8 Million below the budget for FY 2009 and $11.3 Million below the first budget I proposed for FY 2008. Due to a drastic decrease in property and income tax revenue as well as in state funding, I am estimating that this year's proposal will be significantly lower, probably somewhere around $110 Million. The major portion of the county budget is dedicated to education and public safety." "The budget for next year is still evolving," continued Pollitt, "and I am eager to share the progress thus far with our citizens at the meeting on April 8th. We have many challenges in front of us and we need to move forward together."Mr. Pollitt will submit his proposed budget to the Wicomico County Council on or before April 15th

By THE WASHINGTON TIMES

The headline above provides the exact amount of outstanding public debt as of Tuesday, according to the latest available figures from the U.S. Treasury. By the time you read this, that figure will have increased by $17,338,324,977.

Massive, abstract numbers such as these defy comprehension. It's far easier to grasp their personal impact: The share of the enormous total debt figure for each American household is $120,125. That's up $164 from Tuesday. It's up $15,445 from last year. It will keep going up until something is done to stop the runaway spending by Congress and the Obama administration.

Most observers would look at this evidence and agree that we have run out of money, but a handful stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the obvious. The latter insist that, somehow, spending more of the public's money will solve the economic woes brought about in large measure from out-of-control personal and public spending. Such are the people who hold the levers of power in Washington.

So long as they continue to tax away capital for spending on an unproductive government sector, our economy will continue its downward spiral. History is filled with examples of administrations that failed to heed the warning signs and pushed spending beyond the limits.

Ancient Rome's Emperor Nero, for example, constructed a Golden House so large that contemporary historians described its gilded columns stretching for a mile. Within a few years of taking power, his extravagance had exhausted the treasury of the world's greatest empire. To keep his stimulus program running - which involved burning and rebuilding Rome itself - Nero turned to property confiscation and debasement of the monetary system. Modern analysis of the empire's coins show that Nero was the first emperor to secretly mix copper into the money supply, reducing its silver content by as much as 20 percent.

Today's property confiscation disguises itself in the form of taxes and fees that must increase as the government looks to seize that additional $120,125. As in Rome, the Treasury's printing of more and more currency of less and less intrinsic worth will inevitably lead to inflation of the sort not seen since the 1970s.

The current debt, however, is the least of our problems. According to the Social Security and Medicare trustees, Social Security has made $17.5 trillion in future promises that it has no money to fulfill. Add to this amount Medicare's unfunded liabilities of $89.3 trillion, and the grand total is $106.8 trillion. That means each household's share of current and future debt is a staggering $1.1 million.

This trajectory is obviously unsustainable, and there are alternatives. Instead of creating new entitlements like health care, existing programs must be scaled back and reformed from the ground up. The expense of the federal government must be dramatically slashed so that its books can be brought back into balance. To start, the greatest discretionary savings would come from repealing the civil service protections that serve the unions more than they do the taxpayers. Eliminating the guarantee of a lifetime job would force increased productivity with a slimmed down, less costly work force. Nonessential departments, agencies and programs must also be shuttered.

Such adjustments, though painful, have already taken place across the private sector during the current economic downturn. Why should bureaucrats be immune? To do any less would be to fiddle while America's debt mounts and your share of it grows

South African White Supremacist Leader Eugene Terreblanche Killed

Eugene Terreblanche, the South African white supremacist leader who fought to preserve apartheid in the 1990s, has been beaten and hacked to death at his farm.

A 21-year-old man and a 15-year-old were arrested on Saturday and charged with the murder, which local media reports said they had carried out over an alleged dispute with Terreblanche over unpaid wages.

A police spokesman said that the 69-year-old, who had lived in relative obscurity in recent years, was found in bed with facial and head injuries.

Should Bob Ehrlich Sign the “No Taxes” Pledge?

In 2002, Bob Ehrlich ran for governor against an incredibly weak Democrat candidate and won. In 2006 he lost to a much tougher opponent. In 2010, Ehrlich is hoping that lightning will strike a second time. For it to happen, he will need the ACTIVE support of grassroots conservatives through the Once Free State.

In the past, Ehrlich has declined to sign a “No New Taxes” pledge. With fiscal issues at the fore, and groups like the Tea Party mobilizing thousands of voters across Maryland, now is the time for Tea Party activists and groups such as AFP and the Club for Growth to DEMAND Ehrlich’s pledge BEFORE they will commit to supporting his nascent candidacy.

Chrysler's Railroad

Chrysler's Railroad

This could be a scandal of epic proportions and one that makes Nixon's Watergate or Clinton 's Monica Lewinsky affair pale by comparison. Why was there neither rhyme nor reason as to which dealerships of the Chrysler Corporation were to be closed? Roll the clock back to the weeks just before Chrysler declared bankruptcy. Chrysler, like GM, was in dire financial straits and federal government "graciously" offered to "buy the company" and keep them out of bankruptcy and "save jobs." Chrysler was, in the words of Obama and his administration, "Too big to fail," same story with GM.

The feds organized their "Automotive Task Force" to fix Chrysler and GM. Obama, in an act that is 100% unconstitutional, appointed a guy named Steve Rattner to be the White House's official Car Czar - literally, that's what his title is. Rattner is the liaison between Obama, Chrysler, and GM.

Initially, the national media reported that Chrysler had made this list of dealerships. That is not true. The Washington Examiner, Newsmax, Fox New and a host of other news agencies discovered that the list of dealerships was put together by the "Automotive Task Force" headed by no one other than Mr. Steve Rattner.

Now the plot thickens. Remember earlier we said that there was neither rhyme nor reason why certain dealerships were closed? Actually there's a very interesting pattern as to who was closed down. Again, on May 27, 2009, The Washington Examiner and Newsmax exposed the connection. Amazingly, of the 789 dealerships closed by the federal government, 788 had donated money, exclusively to Republican political causes, while contributing nothing to Democratic political causes. The only "Democratic" dealership on the list was found to have donated $7,700 to Hillary's campaign, and a bit over $2,000 to John Edwards. This same dealership, reportedly, also gave $200.00 to Obama's campaign. Does that seem a little odd to you?

Steve Rattner is the guy who put the list together. Well, he happens to be married to a Maureen White. Maureen happens to be the former national finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee. As such, she has access to campaign donation records from everyone in the nation, Republican or Democrat. But of course, this is just a wacky "coincidence," we're certain.

Then comes another really wacky "coincidence." On that list of dealerships being closed down, a weird thing happened in Arkansas , North Louisiana, and Southern Missouri . It seems that Bill Clinton's former White House Chief of Staff, Mack McClarty, owns a chain of dealerships in that region, partnered with a fellow by the name of Robert Johnson. Johnson happens to be founder of Black Entertainment Television and was a huge Obama supporter and financier. These guys own a half dozen Chrysler stores under the company title of RLJ-McClarty-Landers. Interestingly, none of their dealerships were ordered closed - not one! While all of their competing Chrysler/Dodge and Jeep dealership were! Eight dealerships located near the dealerships owned by McClarty and Johnson were ordered shut down. Thus by pure luck, these two major Obama supporters now have a virtual monopoly on Chrysler sales in their zone. Isn't that amazing? Go look in The Washington Examiner, the story's there, and it's in a dozen or so other web-based news organizations; this isn't being made up.

Now if you thought Chrysler was owned by Fiat, you are mistaken. Under the federal court ruling, 65% of Chrysler is now owned by the federal government and the United Auto Workers union-Fiat owns 20%. The other 15% is still privately owned and presumably will be traded on the stock market. Obama smiles and says he doesn't want to run the auto industry.

As horrifying as this is to comprehend, and being as how this used to be the United States of America , it would appear that the president has the power to destroy private businesses and eliminate upwards of 100,000 jobs just because they don't agree with his political agenda. This is Nazi Germany stuff, and it's happening right here, right now, in our back yard. There are voices in Washington demanding an explanation, but the "Automotive Task Force" has released no information to the public or to any of the senators demanding answers for what has been done. Keep your ear to the ground for more on this story. If you've ever wanted to make a difference about anything in your life, get on the phone to your national senator or representative in the House and demand an investigation into this.

Benjamin Franklin had it right when he said, "All that's necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Car Czar No More
An amazing thing happened as this story was going to press. Obama's Car Czar, Steve Rattner, resigned on July 13 and was promptly replaced by former steel workers union boss Ron Bloom.

According to CBS News, Rattner left "to return to private life and spend time with his family." Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said, "I hope that he takes another opportunity to bring his unique skills to government service in the future."

By the way, Rattner is under investigation for a multi-million dollar pay-to-play investment bank scandal in New York . Uh-oh! But, we're certain that had nothing to do with his resignation. And, according to several news sources out there, there are rumors he's being investigated for what could be pay-to-play scandal involving the closing of Chrysler and GM dealerships. Really? Again, that couldn't have anything to with his resignation-that's ridiculous! Like CBS said, this guy just wants to "spend more quality time with his family." Obama has 32 personally appointed "czars" who answer to no one but him, all of whom are acting without any Constitutional authority. But hey, we're sure they all have "unique skills," as Tim Geithner likes to say!

Fossil Future

In the Gulf of Mexico — One of the first things you need to know when visiting an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico is that a hard hat and safety goggles must be worn at all times. Another thing you might like to know is that the strippers on Bourbon Street prefer not to take Diners Club. But even before even that, you need to know how to remove your industrial jumpsuit underwater and turn it into a flotation device. I learned how to do that at a training facility on the outskirts of Houston, at the intersection of “Where the hell am I?” and “middle of nowhere.”

The jumpsuit maneuver, which requires tying your pants legs in a knot near the crotch and then inflating the torso section, is a bit more difficult than escaping from a crashed, upside-down, underwater helicopter — something else you must learn to do (albeit in a simulator in a swimming pool). But both procedures, in their own way, involve knottedness in the nether regions.

Having completed Underwater Helicopter Egress Training, you head over to New Orleans and get on the now terrifying helicopter and fly to a mobile drilling rig more than a hundred miles out in the Gulf of Mexico — but not before the safety instructor shows you a home movie of a family finishing a helicopter tour. The mother and stuffed-bunny-carrying daughter exit first; then the father, who, in a moment of wholesome excitement, raises his arms as if to say, “That was great!” and has both his hands sliced off while the wife shrieks in horror and blood splatters the lens and, presumably, the bunny. The video has the desired effect. Everyone in the room immediately issues a Memo to Self: “Do Not Raise Arms until Clear of the Helicopter and You Are Home on Your Couch, and Even Then, Be Careful.”

Incident: Assault
Date of Incident: 31 March 2010
Location: Maple Shade Youth Center, 23704 Ocean Gateway, Mardela Springs, MD
Suspect: Michael Roberts, 18, Mardela Springs, MD

Narrative: On 31 March 2010 at 4:16 PM, deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported altercation occurring on the property of the Maple Shade Youth Center in Mardela Springs. Staff at the Youth Center reported that one of their residents, Michael Roberts had begun assaulting staff members. While en-route, the deputies learned that Roberts was becoming increasingly agitated and combative with the staff. Upon arrival, the deputies observed that Maple Shade staff was holding Roberts on the ground in an attempt to restrain him. Investigation revealed that Roberts became upset when told he could not go to the park with other residents and began throwing books all over the floor of the facility. When a staff member attempted to escort Roberts out of the area, Roberts bit that staff member, lacerating his thumb. Roberts then began assaulting other staff members who tried to assist, even kicking one of them repeatedly in the groin.

Roberts was placed under arrest and transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Roberts in the Detention Center in lieu of $30,000.00 bond.
