Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., announced today that Wicomico County Detention Center (WCDC) Corrections Officer Brad Allen Harp received a Governor’s Crime Prevention Award at an awards ceremony in Glen Burnie on December 7th. The State of Maryland has been honoring its law enforcement professionals with this award since 1980. Recipients are cited for outstanding contributions to the furtherance of crime prevention.
Mr. Pollitt said, “Officer Harp has been on the ‘fast track’ to the top of outstanding public service in his brief career at the WCDC. He was chosen as Correctional Officer of the Year for 2009-2010 for his superior work at confiscating incoming contraband. I am always very pleased when a county employee gets recognition for his or her excellent service to our county.”
Officer Harp is a graduate of the Criminal Justice Academy. He has been employed at WCDC since May, 2008.

ReplyDeleteYears ago the county spent big money to survey salaries, the WCDC was between 18% and 22% behind the rest of the state, they are operating with less than the minimal emergency staffing needed to operate a facility this size thus mega overtime (get a clue rick)some officers are doing what is now called collateral duties (positions cut / not replaced and no compensation. Add to that the furloughs you get even more overtime (get a clue rick) didn't anyone on the county conseal take economics in high school how fiscally / physically irresponsible can they be for the safety of the officers and the citizens of your county. A jail is not just a box you hide people in and have them fend for them selves, it is in reality a mega daycare/nursing home and mental facility and the guards are moms/dads/nurses/teachers/counselors/disciplinarians/housekeepers/and so much more to theses inmates. I was reminded that without the jail at the end of the blue line there would be no criminal justice system and not to take anything from the street police but those police in the city of WCDC that we think so low of do what the police on the street do without a gun.
I don't have a solution but the county manager better wake up and smell what he is shoveling cause from what I have seen and heard your county is in for a sh** storm if the county keeps making cuts at the jail and the safety of the public will be your counties biggest nightmare.
Oops almost forgot one suggestion might be to have the open minded (not) judges in your courts put more people on home detention, they don't need to be in jail if they are not a "danger" to society and it can pay for it self in the long run instead of the taxpayer. oops again Mr. Harp not to take from you but you have not done a darn thing in your two years, I will find the string that was pulled even if I have to come work with you (not) your a good guy but don't play the politics card, hnn maybe a clue.

How many incidents with inmates, good or bad have this man been involved with. How mush time does this man play hide, don't seek and run?

It seems that Kimball's Klan are all bad boys and girls. As far as bad releases Lt Deal had a bad release just a few weeks ago and it was kept a secret.They could not discipline her because this would have gotten the attention of downtown.The way to get downtowns attention is to go in droves with ligitimate complaints and examples of mis conduct.Just a few more complaints on Kimball will do it.They know he is a libility but special k keeps protecting him.They have so much on each other they have to look out for each other.Special k fear kimball because he has his history. Little do they know i have the history on both of them. You have not heard the half of it. Officer Harp is a good Officer, I worked with him,he is a hard working man,and he is not affraid of the inmates. If you dont like him because he is quiet or because he does not run his mouth, thats ok but do not put him down!
He got a prestigious award from the governors office because he did, on his own what the Intel unit should be doing. And K and Lil K seized the oportunity to make WCDC look good.
If you dont know what he did to get that award that has nothing to do with WCDC management, go and ask him ,I am pretty sure he will tell you.
And by the way I worked WCDC for 7 years and what you are saying about Harp being a coward is not true, you are also calling his honor in question. I would like to know who you are to see if you have any authority to talk about fights and altercations, and honor Because I do!

ReplyDeleteI have observed that Sgt S****** for years and I have to say that his behavior wouldnt be that disgusting and repugnant,if he didnt preach around or sing religious songs or carry a bible around.
ReplyDeleteHe does this things and tell everybody that he is a man of christ, but at the same time I see him plotting against fellow officers and supervisors, I have seen him spewing racist hate and comments and I have seen him sexually harrass female officers to the point of touching them and rubbing his crotch against them.
I have seen the looks of my fellow female coworkers eyes,the look of disgust and resignation because they know that they cant do a thing to avoid this because he will retaliate.
And the shame is on me because I have observed this and didnt stood up and acused him...and the shame is on us because we still tolerate this. I just hope that justice will come someday!
