CBS Show Catches Up With Manson follower 'Squeaky' Fromme In Rome

UTICA — Marcy resident and former would-be assassin Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme got some apparently unwanted publicity again Tuesday when the CBS show "Inside Edition" aired images of her taken at a local Walmart.

Fromme, 61, was a follower of cult leader Charles Manson in the 1970s and attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford in 1975. She served 34 years in prison before being paroled in August 2009.

After she was paroled, Fromme moved to Marcy to live with her boyfriend, a fact confirmed by Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara, but officials would not release her exact address.

The "Inside Edition" story on Fromme aired one year to-the-day after the Observer-Dispatch first reported the story.

Pictures shown on air and on the shows website Tuesday show Fromme taking a swing at a camera in the parking lot of the Rome Walmart store, a car with a 'Born Again Pagan' bumper sticker, and an unusually shaped home in Marcy the show says is her current residence.

O-D reporters visited the same home last year, but were asked to leave the property by a man who answered the door.

  3. She paid her dues (and more, as far as I'm concerned) and probably just wants to be left alone...I can understand her taking a swing a someone pushing a camera in her face...I might do the same. And so what if she has some whack bumper sticker and GET THIS FOLKS-- !!! --- an "unusually shaped home"....oh my GOD!!! An UNUSUALLY SHAPED HOME??!! Call 911!! Stop the presses!! We have an unusually shaped home over here!! Can't they do a story on how bad pot is for you or something???

  5. It's strange how they always release people who either kill or try to kill a Republican.

  7. Given her professed commitment to environmental causes I sure hope her car is electric, or she has some 'splaining to do.

  9. It sounds like she could still be dangerous, a threat to society. Firstly, she clearly has anger issues if she's committing assaults in public only ONE year after being released on parole (does she WANT to return to prison?!) Also, most people do not stay the same in their 60s as they were as teenagers. She's not grown up, seems just as mentally disturbed and STILL supports Manson, a criminal nutter with a host of mental illnesses - perhaps cuz she can relate...I'd keep my eye on her and am actually glad the media are doing so!
