SNOW EMERGENCY

Effective February 5, 2010 10:00 am the snow emergency plan will be in effect for the City of Salisbury until further notice.

According to the Salisbury Municipal Code Chapter 10.12.020-10.12.050 it is unlawful for any person to park a vehicle on any city street that is designated and appropriately signposted as an emergency snow route and for which a snow emergency has been declared and is in effect.

During the time a snow emergency is in effect, the police department shall have the authority to take possession of, issue citations for remove, tow, away and impound any vehicle found parked, stalled, incapable of proceeding under its own power or left unattended upon any streets designated as a snow emergency route; and, before the owner thereof may obtain possession of such vehicles, he shall first pay the cost of removing such vehicle and any storage charges.

Any person operating any vehicle upon a snow emergency route without chains or adequate snow tires on no less than two drive wheels thereof while a snow emergency plan is in effect shall be guilty of a misdemeanor should such vehicle become stalled or incapable of proceeding under its own power.

  1. There is a snow emergency at Walmart today too. Good God have mercy that place was insane. People are freaking out, driving down the wrong direction and just in general being stupid. If people would get off the cell phone while in the store, there wouldn't be as many problems. Stop yacking, get your shopping done and then call them back later. Nothing irritates me any more. Glad I got mine done and got back home. By the time I left at 9:00, people were outta control.

  3. truitt street is a snow emergency route yet remains snowless. do I need to put chains on my tires to drive home?
