A Comment Worthy Of A Post

The men and women of this county spoke loud and clear. Approximately 80% vote in favor of question "A". This giving the deputies the right for collective bargaining.

The first thing I see that we are all missing is that our current council dimissed the public. Some of the council actually stated " The people did not know what they were voting for" WOW they knew what they were voting for when they put your sorry ass in office, yet they did not know what they were voting for. This problem is all over the country. The Goverment is supposed to serve the people. "To serve and protect" not dictate.

I also see the county attorney E. Baker got a substancial amount of money paid into the counties retirement just after the ruling by Judge Mitchell. Again I guess the people of Wicomico County are just well stupid. I do not think so ladies and gentlemen of the current council. Bonus for screwing those that protect you from harm. Lets go a little deeper. You screwed every county employee except Pollitt and staff, yourselves, and Baker. So in turn teachers, county roads, Sheriff's Office, Corrections, Parks and Rec, Courts, Health dept.,Waste management, State's Attorneys Office who did I forget. Sorry if i missed anyone else that got furloughed or no BONUS this year.

Everyone who did not get the 50k in your retirement keep it in mind when you vote these crooked bastards out of office.

You idiots took food off of the tables of some very underpaid positions. Rewarded yourselves and a contractual employee that served other jurisdictions while working for the county. Something stinks and BAD !!!!!

So to sum it up they told the people they serve you do not know what you are voting for. We will make the right decision for you. You are not worhty of our time and effort. Basically F/U.

They then screwed every county employee, but the inner circle.

All county employees need to form a union of sorts. This is just a drop in the bucket. What do we not know about. Pens and trash cans nothing but a diversion from the real deal right Joe H.

I had your sign in my yard last election. You can bet it wont be there this year. It went on the brush pile and up in smoke. Just like you next election.

Where is Mike Lewis on this issue ?? I still think he is the one who can not be fired for doing his job. The county states they are broke. Where is the money that over sixty five deputies paid into a retirement they became vested in. What a money maker. This county never wanted a deputy to make it to retirement. How many have actually retired. I guess this is a question better posed to an attorney in Baltimore. One not on the payroll.

By the way the F.O.P. was told by the Wicomico Board Of Elections the County Attorney had to prepare the drafting of the language.

To all you county employees that will work through this "Snow Storm" stay warm and safe. You know your council will be warm and dry.

Last but not least. To the thousands that looked for Sarah Foxwell. Did anyone see one council member Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. While we the "people" gave up our Christmas to serch for a Lost Angel, a child of Wicomico they stayed "warm and dry". I think that says it all.

November is just around the corner.

  1. I think the Police and teachers in general are overpaid.

  2. Very well stated Wicomican. Just so the readers are aware, the amount that the Deputies needed was not even NEAR what Ricky Pollit and this County will pay for an empty parking lot. How much is that lot going to cost to be repaved by the way?
Isn't amazing that the amount that was found (by a citizen) somewhere in the screwed up budget was approximately the same amount that will cost for a useless parking lot? Oh and by the way...they are going to put a new floor in at the Civic Center. How much is that going to cost?
TO ALL OF THE COUNTY COUNCIL:
My family and I will NOT be voting for ANY of YOU for this next election. I feel fortunate for the individuals that are going to run for the Council positions because it doesn't matter who is going to run, as long as they are not the incumbant, I'm voting for THEM. Osama Bin Laden could run and I'd vote for him. As long as it's not for the present Council.
You're dirty and I don't know how you sleep at night.
    SEE YA!

  3. I didn't see any part of this incoherent rant that addressed the part where the Judge said this provision was unconstitutional and illegal.

Could the "Wicomican" please address that part? You know... the "law" part.

  4. The country attorney Baker drafted that? Not the FOP attorney?

Guess that says it all right there!

  5. Ed Baker didn't draft the legislation that was challenged. The FOP Attorney did.

  6. It is my understanding that the FOP hired an attorney who didn't write the legislation in the correct legal terms. Who are you trying to blame for ignorance? Are you a bunch of cry babies or are you men? The only person to blame is yourself. Grow up.

  7. Sounds like one angry deputy! One that has gotten all the facts wrong. Dig deeper and question what this person is saying. It's not completely the way it is being portrayed here.

  8. The classified employees of the WCBOE have a union but it has done nothing for them.

  9. Blame whoever drafted it! Get your facts straight before blaming the council, most of us are ready to hang them out to dry in the court yard as it is!!!

  10. This is going to be a very "PASSIONATE" election.

  11. The council's dismissive comment, if true, points to what has been a problem for as long as there has been a council. In fact, under several councils, it has been actually cultivated by them. That problem is communication.

And I don't see anyone in the council, except perhaps one lone member (thank you, ma'am) who makes any big effort at all at reaching constituents.

  12. All right I will sum it up. There was nothing illegal about the council doing the right thing. Period. They could have granted the will of the people in sum form. Must have struck a nerve. LOL

The council could have saved the tax payers thousands upon thousands of dollors by just sitting down and working out the issues. The council is right there is no law that requires them to do a thing. However they could have granted the legislation and amended it to work. WHY WAS THIS NOT DONE ?? We all know why. The council defied 18000 plus voters. You knew exactly what the voters wanted and you said NO.

Lets look at the facts we do know. Ocean City Police has collective bargaining. The Council and Mayor granted it. It was the right thing to do. To set the record straight it has nothing to do with pay. It was over benefits that deputies have asked for over the last twenty years.

I think the poster meant that over one hundred deputies paid into the retirement system and they left before becoming vested. Therefore the money paid in is somewhere I would guess. That is a question that can only be answered by the County Goverment.

I am disapointed in the actions by the council as well. I think there should have been some type of resolution to the issue. It would have been simple to sit down with the Sheriff and his Staff as well as the F.O.P. and work out issues.

Lets face it folks you can not squeeze blood from a turnip. The financial state of the county is not good.

So I ask did the county attorney get his pension caught up by the county in such troubling financial times ? Again only they can answer that question. They refrain from doing so. I can see how some would have distrust in this matter under these circumstances.

I see how the Wicomican may have some of the facts wrong if no one will tell the truth on the issue. In no uncertain terms would it have been illegal for the council to grant some type of committee to oversee this issue. It appears as a total vote of nonconfidence in the Sheriff's Office.

I can also see that other employes would be angry if the county attorney got preferentail treatment in the way of his pension. It make abosolutely no sense.

If this was granted an arbitraitor could have said less pay for the deputies and better retirement and benefits are needed. It could have worked out for both sides. The is the whole idea behind this type of collective bargaining. Thge arbitraitor will not award what is not fair and just. So what is the county hiding or affraid of.

I to am frustrated by poeple I voted for and had total respect for. Thier actions in this matter are less than honorable no matter have you slice it.

My understanding is that the Maryland State F.O.P. Lodge is going to file an appeal not matter what the F.O.P. on a local level does. This menas that Police Officers across the state are watching Wicomico County and are concerned over the actions of our elected council. I think that speaks volumes about the matter.

The council could sit down without attorneys and resolve this issue. This would save the county much needed funds that could be used elsewhere. The State Lodge is picking up the tab for the local police in this matter. It may even go to the National Lodge. I do not feel the council realized the ramifications of turning a deaf ear to such an overwhelming vote.

I would hope my elected body would clear the air at the next council meeting. I want the facts not rumor and inuendo. They owe all the people of this county that.

I think we all need to remember what we do for ourselves goes to the grave with us. What we do for others lives on for eternity.

    Signed,

    One Confused Deputy

  13. John Cannon and Bill McCain were out at Perdue stadium on Christmas day to help with the search for Sarah Foxwell. Stevie Prettyman wasn't even in this state, she was in Florida. I can't speak for the rest of them.

  15. The whole thing was brought about, only because the Deputies have no disablity. If the council gave the Deputies disability, then there would have been no queston on the ballot, no law suit, and protected cops.
The Deputiea are willing to live with the same retirement as other county employees (except the BOE wich has its version of binding arbitration through a huge union). Could you imagine being a street cop, taking huge risks, with no real disability to fall back on if you get hurt at work?

  16. Confused Deputy

I don't really think the Maryland State F.O.P. Lodge has a dog in this hunt, and should stay out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wrong about that. The State F.O.P. not Maryland State Police are in fact filing an appeal no matter what the deputies do or the local F.O.P. I do not think that deputy is confused at all. I think the deputy is very coherant.

Why would a State Trooper have a dog in this hunt. They have the best retirement and disability in the state.

In short I see big changes coming here and abroad. People are sick of crooked politicians.

    ReplyDelete
  18. O.K. so they were there did they actually search or did they get political face time ???

I do not care either way I am like the other folks. These people are frauds.

I have left my blood on county soil protecting the people of this county. The poeple spoke and siad 18000 strong we support you and your brothers and sisters. The council said F/U !!!

To the deputies do not lose your drive to protect and serve the people of this county, they did support you and still do. You are heros and you do it day in and day out knowing you have no viable protection in the way of insurance.
As most will enjoy thier familes this week end you will be out there protecting and serving.

So to the poster that stated over paid F/U to the council that crapped down our necks F/U. I paid my dues. I do not give a crap about cowards and liberal pieces of feces hiding among us.

  21. Ask Delmar pd about collective bargining, sent from mobile no spell check.

  22. To one confused Deputy! You are no doubt a crook, and a LIAR. "It's not about money", try again. The OCPD budget grew by 70% in the 3 years after the M&CC granted collective barganing, the average pay raise was 31%. It's statements like that take all the trust away from public service. You make me sick! Folks, do your homework before you vote this in, you can't afford it!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ask anyone except the cops in oceaqn city what the union has done. Ask anyone. Enough said. If it's about benefits, put that request to the public, not the right to a union.

    ReplyDelete
  24. To 9:48 a.m So what is the lie did the police there deserve the raise?? Could the city afford it. So what you are saying is only the Maryland State Police deserve pay and benefits. The rest are just throw aways.

I know who you are. I suggest you go f/yourself and the eastside billygoat that bore your sorry ass.

18000 voters are stupid you are right. You are a freaking moron. No sir you are the criminal and your political days are numbered. That I promise. That goes to any politician that does not respect the majority vote.

This is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Not Cannonville or Hollowaytown. The people spoke and you two denied the will of the people that put you in office.

I do know who you are and I am almost sure you know who I am. So be a man and approach me. Call me a liar and a crook to my face. I bet your mother's crooked teeth you will not do it. By the the way unchain her from the pole it is snowing out.
